So am I reading this correctly: 'I'm ok now but our plan to keep me ok needs to be reworked so I'm missing time to plan how to be ok?' I don't get it.
Except for the fact all this coincides with the biggest day of his life. I can't imagine what the days are like leading up to Oct 1 for someone with an anxiety problem already. All the phone calls, the (false) feeling of everyone looking and weighing their expectations on you, etc. etc. He didn't even GO to Media Day. Maybe his son is just sick...
I wouldn't. Easy to talk and be forthcoming about it on the internet... an anxious person's most favorite bubble.
Basically. What bugs me is that they didn't address this before. Even if his anxiety is never an issue, you've got to be better prepared. They had plenty of time to work something out for him. I don't know which side failed to get it going, but it's a bad way to start things off.
I'm more curious if Royce & his doctor took this step on their own with out the teams consent or prior knowledge. I would think the team would have some kind of prepared statement unless this caught them by surprise. It sounds like the team does not have any more answers than the rest of us.
damn.. its that bad huh i hope he joins the team soon, i liked what i saw in the summer league from him
I just saw J.R.'s post; dang this forum moves so fast welp... looks like White is already in tha doghouse. Thanks Royce. #AnxietyTrooper
It was extreme how guarded McHale was when asked about it. He was offered a chance to comment four separate times and gave nothing. I think the most he said was "He needs to be here."
I guess you need to have experienced this in order to understand what he's saying because it doesn't make sense. Can anybody with knowledge about his disorder maybe elaborate what he might be saying here?
Do you even know what he's referring to? You are the same guy that said the 2012 draft was 75-80 players deep...
At least Royce White has personal problems. Some of the people in the front office and many of you people are not even persons.
Overreactions ITT If he misses practices and games, then worry. We knew he had an issue, and the process to improve is ongoing. It's just media day.
Interesting- Seems like this situation could have been avoided by him and his doctor if they would have planned for this earlier. Its not like training camp was a huge surprise to his calendar or anything. The thing I hope he realizes is that if he really wants to use this basketball outlet for good (anxiety causes) he's going to have to be a "good" basketball player to really get his voice heard, and to be a guiding light for his cause. If he cant play consistently this year than guys like D-Mo, Morris, and T. Jones will be less than simpathetic about his playing time they are taking from him. Im not going to say stuff like "what a waste of a pick", or "Morey should have drafted Zeller" because I eventually think he will get the hint, and figure out that he's got to consistently be there to secure a career in the NBA. The guy has a three to 5 year commitment with the team on a rookie contract. Even if he botches this year up, he can still turn it around in a year or two. However, every day he misses in training camp puts him further and further down the bench. I hope this guy knows what he's doing here, and his doctor really knows what they are doing as well.
