My garage door opener remote seems to have stopped working and the people at Sears said they don't make them anymore or something. The brand is Blue Max. Do they sell some kind of universal remotes that you can buy? Usually there's that button on the garage door opener that you press to program your remote but this garage opener doesn't seem to have that feature. Anyone have any experience with something like this?
Have you tried replacing the battery? That might sound snarky but I don't mean it to. A lot of people don't realize that they have batteries in them.
Assuming you're facing what i did, yes, they don't make openers like that anymore (for radio frequency reasons not worth going into), but you can get the remotes. If you are, then your opener has a 10 switch code, and your remote should have those same 10 switches. You match your remote "on" switches to the opener "on" switches and there you have it. Should be able to get one at most hardware stores, if not wallymarket. Actually, if yours functions this way, make sure your switches match. If the cover comes off, sometimes a switch gets moved without one knowing. I have a gate that operates this way, and due to interference I assume, my code changes on one of the switches, usually more than once daily.
I ordered mine here: http://www.garagedoorzone.com/ You can look on YouTube for instructions on how to program it. Pretty easy.
