So how do ya like the new season? As a German I'm so embarassed how they display Klaus, they couldn't even get a real German for that role and the guy is doing the worst accent imaginable. Fear that's how most of Americans picture us speaking English.
Kind of like....as a heterosexual male, I'm so embarassed how they display Barney, they couldn't even get a real heterosexual male for that role.
So far I have to say I've been somewhat let down and I hate to say it.... Granted....both episodes have obviously been classic HIMYM and this is hands down one of my favorite shows. SPOILER. I DON'T KNOW HOW TO HIDE MY TEXT WITH A SPOILER BUTTON. I just feel like the first 2 episodes haven't been terribly funny, and I think they kind of screwed up by revealing Robin is Barney's real wife. It was a good twist to start out with at the end of Season 7, but I feel like they essentially set the show up to fail for a little bit of the beginning of Season 8. Basically, we know Quinn is out of the picture, and with that knowledge in hand, it makes whatever tactic they use to remove Quinn off the show come off as silly, especially the 1000 page prenup that Barney made Quinn sign. I know this show is supposed to be a comedy, but things like that shouldn't end a marriage before it even begins. It just came off as silly, lazy writing and a quick way for the writer's to write off Quinn. Also....Ted essentially steals Victoria from Klaus, and then Klaus wants to live with them? I mean once again, I just feel like the writing has just gotten silly and wildly unrealistic, and while yes, there have been many instances like that throughout the show, I just feel like since this is the final season, it should be a more emotionally attached season. The comedy aspect is always fun, but this is the season we've been waiting for, and I want the story to advance. Granted, I'm probably being way too critical, but it's a show I love and I think they're kind of not doing it's overall story arc any favors when the writing seems rather lazy.
Just put SPOILER in brackets before your text and then... /SPOILER after your text, also in brackets like this "[]" Spoiler See!
this was the first episode I ever watched (and will be the only episode I ever watch), but Thomas Lennon is amazing so do not bash him.
I guess he's hilarious if you're American, it's embarassing if you're German and realize most of the world think you speak like this.
Was he saying real words in German in the season premier? I also agree that they should have had a real German play that character.
Season 7 comes in the mail today. It was only $20 from Amazon. I just started watching 2 weeks ago on Netflix.
Yea he did, but I could barely understand him when he talked faster. Also the words he used to describe a person that is meant to be with you forever was some ish I never heard of before, probably from the 18th century or something.
I don't think we should necessarily take Barney and Robin getting married for granted yet. In the first episode of this season they both seemed like they didn't really want to be getting married and at the end of that episode, Ted was depressed at the rail station by himself, so its quite possible that Barney and Robin end up not getting married. I do wish Quinn could maintain a role on the show though. That actress is hot.
I think this was a consolation prize for not showing who the mother is. That's really the only mystery left, but they try to manufacture something else with this will they/won't they with Barney and Robin.
No no no...you misunderstood me. Let me clarify. I have no problem with Barney and Robin getting married. I think they're a very good aspect for the show when they're together. Also, I don't think it's assumed that Barney and Robin will work out either. That's not my point though. My point is strictly the fact that the show essentially just made Quinn a lame duck. The audience has no real reason to get emotionally invested in her character because she was going to HAVE to end things with Barney one way or another. The shock value was good for the ending of season 7, but for season 8, it makes the season just feel like you know a MAJOR part of the story before it really happens and therefor leads to the show coming up with some way of writing her off, and they did so in a rather lazy, rushed way. But obviously people could disagree with me. Just my opinion.
This season is pretty bad, today's episode was 18 minutes of **** and the closing minutes were okay. They should've stopped like two seasons ago, now it's obvious the writers are desperate to stretch it and aim to get laughs with stupid jokes and stories. I mean today, Lily&Marshall ran a quiz show game to decide who's the baby's guardian? Stupid as fukk, same with Lily crying whenever it's about death. Hope they really end it this season, another one would be unbearable and pointless.
I actually thought this was the first episode where the laughs actually hit their mark, and then the closing moments were the tops for the episode. Granted, yes...it was incredibly stupid in terms of the premise for the episode, but I thought this was the first truly entertaining episode for the whole season so far. It's a shame seeing as how I've grown to really love the show, but I agree with you that it seems like they're running out of ideas for the show and I don't see any way they can keep it going for a Season 9. But hey....difference of opinion I guess. But I think we agree that this season is, so far, on pace to be the worst of the series.
i just looked on netflix. i guess i have only seen the first 6 seasons. i like the show they should have ended it though in my opinion. they stretch it out as far as ratings allow. which i guess means that the show has to suck before they end it
Agreed. I didn't know what I was watching when I was watching it because it was so poorly written. Lily crying was the worst part.
