http://www.sbnation.com/nba/2012/10/1/3437086/brandon-roy-minnesota-timberwolves-rick-adelman-michael-beasley I knew he could be truthful but damn, he's taking it to another level with this! Wish he would've done this when asked about T-mac, who knows how he really felt about him, the clash with Von and other things Weren't we after Kirileinko before, guess it was Adelman who wanted him..I like how he doesn't take any crap and they got rid of Beasley.
Sorry, this is the original article and he's even more honest about Randolph: http://www.minnpost.com/sports/2012/10/timberwolves-candid-glen-taylor-offers-glimpse-inside-front-office Shots fired or just stating he's not nasty?
According to that article, those are things he told their front office behind closed doors…their owner just repeated it to the media. So I’m sure there are things he’s also told the Rockets FO that we just don’t know about. The stuff isn’t that bad anyway. Everybody already knows Beasley is a ballstopper and I think the concerns about Roy’s health are pretty valid.
Well, it was Taylor being brutally honest, isn't it, and not really Adelman. Adelman said that stuff in private. Taylor aired it out (which probably isn't too cool, unless he asked Adelman if he could repeat that stuff).
He's probably worried about getting into another T-Mac situation (constantly taking games off, not practicing, etc.) with Brandon Roy. No surprise that he wouldn't be high on Beasley.
And thats why we hired McHale...we didn't want to give Adelman the power over the roster that he wanted and/or deserved.
Pretty misleading OP if you read the article. Prepared for some popcorn atmosphere-ish comments and was left deepy disappointed.
(Per the original article) Nic Batum said his top 3 choice teams were Minny, New Orleans, and Toronto. Interesting. More power to you, Mr. Batum.
Adelman was always pretty honest about McGrady. I mean, at one point McGrady went back to Houston during a road trip because Adelman told him he wasn't getting more minutes.
Would you believe some people here thought Adelman was a soft touch before he was hired? He was supposed come in and be the opposite of the "tyrant" JVG. In reality, JVG coddled and enabled McGrady while Adelman did not.
I think you're right. JVG had the same mentality as most of Clutchfans, where you cater to a superstar at all costs. This came at a price of having a one dimensional offense and a HORRIBLE bottom-end to the roster, though. Adelman worked with the idea that you want good depth all of the way down your bench and all hands on deck. This came at a price of mediocrity and alienating / possibly stunting the growth of young/journeyman players. I don't usually turn on coaches so I believe we could have won with both. I haven't seen much from McHale so far, though. This season will truly define him as a coach. He doesn't seem like much of a coddler.
Adelman rode mcgrady hard when he could play. During that 22 game winning streak he played 38 minutes plus 14 times. He had two 48 minute games in a 5 game stretch. Of course Adelman played favorites. I remember he always would play AB and Chase even when they probably should have been benched.
The Adelman still really loves Chase eh? Bet you anything he did all in his power to get Bud to Minny.
