Nice win Jent. Good luck against Fade. Miguel killed me. I had three pitchers shutdown this week, but I could not have won anyway, you were too much. All seasons too much. Next year though, with Strasburg, Kershaw, Price, and Medlen. I feel like I have finally recovered from keeping Ryan Howard in year one of keeperland. Lincecum though. Seriously. What the heck happened. What a waste.
I was going to post how lucky I was that Strasburg was shut down, Kershaw was hurt, and McDonald was taken out of the rotation. If all that hadn't gone down, I think the outcome very well may have been different. Regardless, I think any of us will be hard-pressed to match your keepers going forward. Looking ahead, my offense has been incredible, but my starting pitching, which was once solid, is now looking average, at best. I think Fade is the early line favorite in the Finals.
Yeah, and to think I offered you Felix for him at the start of the season. So glad you didn't accept it.
Here are the final results for the first round: jent: 231 + 209 = 440 PSJ: 155 + 220 = 375 Expos: 246 + 252 = 498 Smeg: 224 + 215 = 439 Finals are Expos vs. Jent for all the marbles. Weeks 48, 49, 50 and 51. 18 SP games total. Good luck!
well done Fade, cant believe i kept it that close, needed a mega batting performance (thanks Melky you tool) or a millions saves to pull off the miracle, a well deserved victory by you
Situation so far: Jent: 202 + 166 = 368 Fade: 156 + 194 = 350 Both teams have used 9/18 SP games so far.
Poor Fade. He's still realing from the Homer Bailey-Anibel Sanchez Combo to the head. He'll be dizzy for a few days. You can;t just recover from that.
Don't want to jinx myself, but some (very) recent SP FA acquisitions have paid off more than I could have hoped (see also, understatement).
Situation going into the final period: Jent: 202 + 166 + 312 = 680 [15/18 SP games used] Fade: 156 + 194 +169 = 519 [14/18 SP games used] Not much hope left for me, I'm afraid, but let's see how it plays out.
I was the first to win all three leagues (edging out Fade by a year)...though success has been fleeting since! I'm also still not entirely comfortable this go around. It just takes one big pitching performance or a manager deciding to shuffle his rotation (leaving Cain, Haren, or Bailey to sit) to change the outcome. Don't think the lead is in any way insurmountable.
It's pretty much official now. Big congrats to jent. Your team had an incredible year and kept it going through the playoffs when it mattered most. You deserve it, buddy.
Thanks Fade...I was relying on some big offensive numbers, but the number of good pitching performances were entirely unexpected. Good season...as I mentioned at the beginning of the match-up I would have given you the nod based on roster comparison alone. Also, glad Sam's team didn't make it into the playoffs, wouldn't have looked forward to that match-up. Looking forward to next year....
