to give up 141 yards to CJ who had a total of 45 yards COMBINED from the first 3 games of the season is not surprising? no one would have predicted CJ would even reach the 80 mark.
They NEED 3 OLBs for this system. I remember Phillips mentioning how exhausted Barwin and Reed were at the end of the season because there was no rotation at OLB. It was 2 guys playing A LOT. He said he would ideally like 3 guys there.
Now that Brrra!man is back, coverage on special teams is 100% better, but the return game..no bueno. the right side of the line has to grow up fast. Also, since last season, the no huddle offense has been giving our d fits. They're going to have to disrupt the receivers timing by more bump and run rather than that 7 yard cushion.
Injuries/Depth Schaub in crunch time (time management) Right side of O-line with Caldwell hurt. Kjax agasint a capable QB (GB. NE, BAL) Kubiak's decisions/indecisions Reliant Staduim's field condition (see wes welker 09 and AJ last year) and Number 1 Concern is Special Teams... Every time Holiday touches the ball we all cringe and pray he does not fumble or get himself hurt
On the BS Report, Jaws, made the statement that the Texans are currently the most complete team (this was as of last week). This team is one of the best Houston sports teams I've watched in a while. Enjoy it everyone.
I've got confidence Trindon is going to make a couple big returns for us this season. He keeps making people miss. One of these times, he's gonna cruise. Mercilus needs to come into his own by the second half of the season. We need him to spell the outside guys. Don't know about our kicker. Not impressed so far. Schaub really needs to avoid big hits.
We are not the "complete" team, but 4-0 is not bad. Every team has strengths and weaknesses. To lose to the Jets would be embarrassing; the Texans must take care of business, then if we beat the Packers and the Ravens, we are really rolling. Until some one beats us, who is better? My guess is that the Texans will meet the 49ers or the Falcons in the SuperBowl.
Potential injuries - every team has injuries, but when it happens to us, it seems to happen to our star players. Cheerleaders don't show enough cleavage.
Exactly. People don't realize how close most NFL games are. We're ridiculously spoiled...our team has been up by 20 in every game they've played. They've won 3 of 4 by 20 or more points. That's ridiculous given the parity of the NFL.
I think our run defense is meh. I know stats disagree, but if we weren't kicking every teams ass so fast, forcing them to pass, we could run into some problems if teams started ground and pounding.
Depth in the secondary and OLBs. Kicker. Kick/Punt Return. Offensive linemen not named Duane Brown and Chris Meyers. Maybe run defense. With that said, I love watching this team play, and for the first time since the Astros went on their World Series run I feel positive about a Houston team's chance for success.
I posted this in the "Schaub the ELITE" thread - and often throughout the forum because it bears repeating: in their last 8 games with Schaub under center (all wins), their average margin of victory is 20. 20! For fun, I went back and looked at the '07 Pats (16-0); in their first 8 games, they outscored their opponents 331-127 (25.5). We're having to drag an undefeated offensive juggernaught the likes of which few of us have ever seen to find a comparable stretch to the one the Texans are on right now with Schaub starting. I don't think killer instinct is even remotely an issue. They've led by 17, 17, 20 and 21 points through the first 3Qs of their 4 games this year and won by 20, 20, 6 and 24.
Yes! We want it all, women, wealth, and one more thing..... We want a uniform! . (Sorry weak 300 reference)
