Put yourself in his shoes. We don't always get it because, to some of us, sports are a hobby that we use during our down time to relax. It's what some people go to after they come home from the real serious things, like their jobs. But what is KG's job? Basketball. It's his expertise. All he has known. Probably his first and only job. Its what he worked hard for growing up, what he works hard for now to stay employed in, what he comes home late for, etc...His career. I'd have a problem, if he didn't take it so seriously.
love KG as a player, hate this guy as a person i personally believe the NBA will be better without him and his ""attitude". He is the last holdover of the Iverson era. The game has new young stars who are classy, like D.Rose, K.Love, R.Westbrook, B.Griffin, K. Durant i personally wouldnt mind it if KG retired, his on-court behavior is that annoying to me
Westbrook doesnt curse and yell out f-this, f-that, and pound his chest every 5 seconds. KG is way above acting like that, what is he 35, 36. He needs to grow up man
I can't help but see where the guy is coming from. A man he called a friend, a brother, just goes and joins a team that is arguably their biggest and most hated rival. Abandons them. Putting myself in KG's shoes, it would very much feel like a backstabbing.
This is overblown. Personally I love KG, everything he does is real and genuine and tells it how it is no matter how much of an *** it might make him. He plays with passion and that's what I think some players in the league lack. I'd rather see his on the court antics then Griffin's stupid stare downs anyday.
Holy &$(#! I can't believe some of y'all chastising Ray, saying he took less money just to go to Miami because he felt he'd have a better chance to win a ring there(Technically the better chance to win a ring there part is true) The guy was always the one having to make concessions to others on that team! They had ZERO problem putting him on the trading block multiple times. The most excellent GM Mr. Danny Ainge had Ray on the trading block enough times to make any player of Ray's ilk feel more than a little slighted. Then you factor in the Rondo situation, add in the increased possibility of winning a championship in Miami as opposed to Boston, tack on the great weather for him to play golf ALL YEAR and it's no surprise he went to Miami. If anything i'll give Garnett the benefit of the doubt and go with RV6's theory that the not talking to Ray thing is more for Garnett's head and to make him still feel competitive out on the court when he is playing Ray and not something petty with regards to Ray leaving Boston.
I can't believe nobody else realizes the reasons that Ray Allen left the Celtics. He didn't owe them anything. He fulfilled his contract even after being dangled in trade talks for years. His relationship within the team became toxic when he and Rondo started getting at each other. There was no way Ray Allen would have stayed a Celtic with all that going on. He went to a competitor where he's a perfect fit for their need. He doesn't need to do anything other than shoot 3s, which with the Miami Big Three, he can do all day long. A whole lot of you act as if Ray Allen personally made a conscious decision to play for the Celtic's biggest Eastern conference rival. It wasn't. It made sense from a basketball, financial, and lifestyle perspective. KG is being a big cry baby. If I worked for Google and my coworker got a job at Apple, I wouldn't cut off all contact with that person. Sure, on the court you play hard. But the color of your jersey doesn't define who you are. KG says he's friends with Ray Allen. Well, a true friend wouldn't act like this. KG can be competitive all he wants, but his competitiveness overrides how he lives his life and that's taking it too far. KG is being petty.
2nd'ed I'm not chastising Ray. If my co-worker leaves another company for my direct competitor and makes them stronger and my company weaker, I'd feel pissed even if at the end of the day I don't give a hoot about my company. I don't see a problem with Garnett's move. Ray Allen's a man. KG is a man. They've made their choices. Talking about it makes me feel like a gossipy b****.
Here's the way I feel about it... Ray was apparently unhappy with the way he had to "sacrifice" more than the other stars, yet he played the second most minutes per game out of those guys over the past three years. He was also apparently unhappy that he didn't instantly get his starting job back after coming back from an injury, but he still played 34 minutes per game all throughout the playoffs. So what does he do when he becomes a free agent? He signs with the Miami Heat, where he'll be begging for the ball from those other three stars (one of which actually plays Ray's position). He knew full well that they are the Celtics' biggest rival right now, AND HE TOOK HALF AS MUCH MONEY THAN THE CELTICS WERE OFFERING. What exactly does that say about Ray's feelings toward the Celtics? I, for one, applaud KG's mentality. While you can certainly question his on the court actions while he's trying to be tough and stuff, but there's one thing about KG you most definitely cannot question... and that's his passion and love for two things: Basketball and winning. If more guys had the same exactly mentality as him, the NBA would be exponentially better to watch than it is now.

Think it was a b!tch move to quit on Pierce&KG, KG&Pierce wanted to retire together with Allen. He already got a ring and enough money, needs to understand that he's not neccessarily a starter nowadays when Bradley is becoming better with each game. KG feels betrayed and has the right to act like that.
Hmmm. Don't get some of you guys. If I worked with a person for years and actually developed a friendship (like KG and Allen did), I wouldn't let something like this get in the way of our friendship. He acts like Allen stole his wife or something. It's just another job and in the end, it's just a game of basketball. Nothing to get dramatic over.
Not really. Jordan might have been off the court during the offseason, but on the court he was every bit as KG is. A killer, the ultimate competitor. Jeff Van Gundy actually accused him of befriending NBA players and then taking advantage of them on the court. lol.
