    pathetic behavior??

I LOVE that about him. Ray Allen went to the enemy...this just shows Kevin Garnett has some fire in his belly.

    You're kidding.

There is nothing fake about Kevin Garnett's competitiveness. I wish he was on the Rockets. I can't believe he is still going strong after 17 NBA seasons.

You are just trying to pounce on Garnett because he has some sort of rep of being a punk....if Jordan said this everyone would think its bad ass. lol.

Garnett has LOVE and PASSION for the game. He actually has pride in the jersey he wears and the team he is a part of..similar to most NFL players and unlike most NBA players.

wish we saw more of this.

I actually dislike KG as much as the next guy. But I have no idea what's wrong with this. He feels betrayed, obviously and in the current sports climate where everyone is always so damned buddy buddy, it's incredibly refreshing.

yet most of us get mad when we see players joking around before and after games like best buds.

garnett is a tool but i have no problem with this move.

They don't make make them like this anymore. Last of a dying breed of competitors. Throwback player.

We are left with a bunch of p*ssies in the NBA now. It's a friend league

IMO, KG has a competitive spirit until someone stands up to him. That being said, this article isn't an example of it.

Really guys?? When a person is your friend, you stop talking to him altogether just because he's another team? That's being petty is what that is. You call this competitiveness, last of a dying breed, come on! Even Rockets players kept in touch with Vernon Maxwell and their friendship is heralded around here plenty even though they had every right to never talk to Max again since he gave up, abandoned his team and let pride get to him. Not talking to a person who is your FRIEND off the court should still be your friend off the court if he just changes teams because that's what Ray did. There's nothing wrong with what Allen did here, even KG agrees.

If my friend played for the Heat, I'd stop talking to him and his grandma too.

word. as a fan i say make friends after your playing days are over if you want to. when players are enemies on AND off the court, the stakes are higher, the desire to win is greater, and the games are better.

ray ray left his brothers in beantown for 25% less money than what ainge offered him. that $hit is personal. that's not "i need to take care of my family," that's "sorry, i know we're contenders (albeit underdogs), but y'all aint winning nothin. peace."

that's ring chasing at its lowest. that's dirt kicked in the face. love kg's response, and can't wait to see them compete when celts/heat go head to head.

Competitiveness is how CP3 does it. He can have you stay at his house the night before a game. He will host you to dinner when you come to town. He will meet you at the club once the game is done.

But once you step on the 94x50ft court he will try his best to cut your throat on the court and stand over your lifeless rotting corpse to get that W.

But you keep it ON THE COURT. What Reeko is repping is straight B*TCH-ness.

    PERIOD.

Exactly, remember what Kenny said about Maxwell, the guy was nuts and would try to start something with MJ during games but after the game asked an autograph for his son. It's just sports and when the game is over, it's over. I don't like the whole being friends thing on the court, players smiling and cracking jokes with the enemy when they're down and stuff like that. Give me Maxwell any day! But, with regards to taking sports off the court is just petty, that's the truth. Also the way the Celtics used to not give hands prior to games or after a game is just disrespectful. Olajuwon said he never liked the Celtics because of that and I agree. There's competitiveness and there's being petty.

Sorry OP but even though I don't like Garnett in this situation the dude is right. Ray not only left their team but he went to their fiercest competitor. He is right on this situation and I applaud him. This league has gotten too friendly, next thing you know players are gonna be gathering together to have 5 o'clock tea parties with each other right before playing games.

I respect your opinion but read the article and tell me that is not a petty move, when you're close to a person and his family and just cut off all ties just like that. Doesn't sound like a good friend to me..

reminds me of the Pistons - Big Ben situation. When Ben took the money and left for the Bulls, and wanted to have dinner with his Pistons buddies the next time they were in Chicago, they told him to piss off.
And there wasn't even a real rivalry between the Pistons and the Bulls at the time, and Ben simply took the big payday -- a reasonable move by any account.

Here, the core piece of your title run takes less money to play for your rival. Grats to KG for being old school.

Who knows, maybe in a few years Ray Allen will be back with the Celtics to retire, like Ben did with the Pistons. But for now, a little bitterness is only normal for a team with the Celtics philosophy.

I dont think KG is saying he's no longer friends with Allen...what he's doing is distancing himself from allen, so that he can compete against him objectively and not give him anything. He wants to see him as the enemy, but on the floor. Its harder to do that if you're hanging out and having fun.
