I went on a whim. Didnt see one preview, no expectations of any kind.

I thought it was a different kind of horror flick, unique elements and twists & turns. Was enjoyable.

Being a fan of Whedon MAY helps going in. For others who don't care, they'll still come away with some kind of reaction

on 2nd thought, I'd have to agree

The last time I had this much fun at a movie was when I saw Inglorious Basterds. I recommend to all who are not dumbasses.

Great movie...espiecially for a horror film but I kinda feel "ripped off" due to the ending...(last 10 mins)

Yeah, once the reason was revealed, I knew it would be hard for them to come up with a good ending. But still, what a twist. When I told my friends about it, I told them it was more of a suspense with a little bit of humor, rather than a horror movie.

It has hints of the original "Scream" in it's humor and originality. I liked it alot.

There are a lot of layers to the movie. There was an interesting discussion on another forum about this movie:
It was suggested that basicly the movie makes fun of the fact that every horror movie ever made is a variation of the same thing, just substitute random monster in. The "director" of the agency was as much a parody of the director of the movie doing everything in their power to follow the established script of killing everyone in order and making them do something stupid that no one in their right mind would do like split up when being chased by something that would kill you, and the "elder gods" could be considered the audience who are hungry for bloody deaths. Someone else pointed out how it was kind of implied that the agency films could have been the "real" source of our horror movies. IE all the horror movies ever released were the films that they were using to fund the operation. Case in point, the need to get a good camera shot of the sex scene in the woods. Interesting theories anyway.

Damn entertaining, and the commentary gives you much more insight of the "white board options"

Glad I didnt pay up to see this in the theater, but renting it was a slam dunk.

I figure with it now on home video it will be maybe 2 weeks before the ending is more or less spoiled for everyone.

The movie was alright... nice twist, but it should have been a 3 hour movie IMO. So much potential fun they could have had with this movie from the cabin to the "second place", not to spoiler it. I also want to see what happens after the end, maybe add another 15 minutes or so.

The movie was way too short for such a story line.

Hollywood Folx so afraid of 3 hour movies.
They don't like the money making potential [i think it is like 5 shows a day instead of 6 per screen]
    and
They don't think people can sit still that long.

Hell I think if people can sit through a boring Titanic and the English Patient... they can sit through this. Still weird that Hollywood is afraid of this, yet they're not afraid of schitty remakes and shameless reboots. That should go to show them that people will watch anything with a decent formula.

This was VERY well said! That's why I loved this movie. There are so many different viewpoints you can make from it, and it's just one of the most clever movies that has graced the big screen for quite a while.

This is one of my favorite movies in a long time, and I really think it's going to go on to gain a cult following and become a classic. It really was just awesome.

From the sound of the commentary there were a lot of cut scenes to make the movie shorter....many from "the purge" (this scene should have been 30 minutes...I agree with the prior post on this) and also a couple from the first act of the story (more wackiness from the Harbinger of Doom, more scenes with Sitterson and Hadley)

However, no deleted scenes on blu ray. Glad I rented and didn't buy.

I'm sure they will re-release it at some point. Damn studios.

Worth the watch. For anyone looking to bust out of the typical horror movie

Watched it last night, can't even call it a horror movie, it's not really scary but it's a clever satire about the horror genre.
