Thankfully not. The PRC leadership is fairly pragmatic. They are stoking this issue to some extent for domestic interests but I highly doubt they will go to war. The Japanese government definitely wants to keep the islands but has prevented development of them to try not to inflame things. Neither government wants war only nationalist on both sides.

They are actually much tougher and hawkish to get things done to protect their own border. Only Communist China would even let things stay status quo.
