I hate to say this, but losing the Cards is probably a good thing. Brewers are too close. Most likely we will will have the opportunity to end the Brewers playoff chances this weekend.
Yup, unfortunately you are absolutely correct. In my best Will Ferrell's impersonation of Alex Trebek on Celebrity Jeopardy, "...and we have reached a new low." Make no mistake about it though, I have full confidence in this front office to right the ship. It might take another 2-3 years, but these losing seasons will make winning it all that much sweeter.

Abad leaves an inning and 2/3 in w/ a strained right oblique. Marwin Gonzalez leaves with a sprained ankle Another new attendance record set at 12,584. Roving catching instructor Danny Sheaffer's contract not renewed. And oh yeah, we're losing. So there's that.
It'll be interesting to see how active this forum will get in 2 or 3 years. Unsorted probably has more activity than this.
I think there just isn't much to discuss in game thread. It is tough to get connected with guys that won't be with team long. This is a bad team that is headed to the AL. I watch them for fun only.
True. But we can begin to connect with the players that most likely WILL be there soon. I have never followed the minor leagues more than I am now. While our team-to-be is scattered over one ML team and 3 or 4 minor league ones, the framework of our future has many of its pieces in place now.
Singleton should be soon. I want to see him in person. The next wave of position prospects tend to have high K numbers which may slow their rise. I am thinking it will be 2014 at earliest until the Astros start winning at a decent rate again.
While I dont expect us to be good next year (92-96 losses), I can foresee the first wave of minor league arrivals (minor league players that have the potential to be part of the plan long term). By July / August, some of those faces may be in the clubhouse depending on how stellar their year goes and who at the ML level continue to struggle.
I think we will see Singleton in 2013, most likely in May (1B sucks and he is tearing it up at AAA) or in July (after a trade). I expect to wait even longer for a decent team. The lack of quality pitchers close to the majors is disturbing. A top college arm with the #1 pick next year will help, which seems the likeliest scenario at this point. I guess this stuff really belongs in one of the other threads though. On topic, Norris/Harrell at home the next 2 days should at least give us good shots.
This is like a kick in the balls. Even though we had all year to prepare for this, it still sucks that we're being forced into the AL. I'm watching the game, and it feels like the Astros are moving away after tonight.
