I want to renew my expired 24 hour fitness membership but apparently the $229 all-sport limited term price is only available within 90 days of an expired membership. now it's like $380 or $40/month for an all sport pass.

do they come out with specials every so often or is this going to be a go-in-and-negotiate thing? i paid 199/year for two years before it expired earlier this year. i would gladly pay $229 but can't really fork over $400 at the moment.

    anyone with some insider knowledge?

I'm not sure how it is now, but in 2004 I bought a 3 year all sport membership for $890 up front and then it was $21 per year for life. So, every June I renew my yearly membership for $21. They sometimes have specials like this but you have to ask.

I was going to post I've seen the 24 Hour Fitness package at Costco.
It looks pretty good but I'm not sure how great a deal it is though compared to dealing with them directly, as I personally have a membership at Lifetime Fitness (which is probably a great deal more expensive).
I practically live at my gym though.

Check with your health insurance company. Some offer discounted gym memberships.

I know blue cross Blue Shield no longer has a deal with 24 hour fitness. I currently use the Costco deal but moved out to where there is only a super sport. I'm not sure what to do and they won't let me upgrade my Costco prepaid membership

Damn. I had just switched over to BCBS and saw that they had a deal with 24 Hour a few months ago. Do you know why they discontinued it or if they plan on bringing it back?

I'm not sure if they're going to bring it back. I know some coworkers received something in the mail that said they would be grandfathered in at the $29 rate with no contract though.

But if you're not going to use a super sport 24 hour, then the Costco deal still comes out cheaper

Like 5 years ago I think I paid $199 for 1 year and can renew for $99/year and I get all clubs.

My understanding of those renewal for life deals was that you pay a huge amount up front. I don't think they offer those anymore, but it's hard to believe that you only had to pay 17$ a month for a year and was then allowed to renew for 8$ a month indefinitely. Especially if this includes all clubs.

Yeah I honestly don't remember exactly what I had to pay up front maybe it was 4 or 5 hundred, it was at least 5 or more years ago but I have been renewing for $99/ year ever since. The company I work for pays for a membership to Lifetime (which is outrageous at like $150/month for a family plan) but I keep the 24 Hour membership just because it is so cheap now and they have locations closer to where I work that I sometimes use at lunchtime.

When my original membership expired the rep in the 24hr club offered the 3 year deal upfront also (2006). It was $649/3yrs and $49 annual renewal for supersports and below. Doesn't hurt to ask next time you're in a 24.

Agreed, lifetime's crazy and the 64/month when I was there a short time is only for that specific club. The Citycentre one is 99$ a month, but the view must be nice.

interesting. i was wondering if it's common to go to the gym during a lunch break. that's my plan. midday is when i'm most motivated to run. it's a 2-3 minute walk to the galleria 24 from my office and i have a pretty flexible lunch hour. going to try this out a couple times and see how it goes...
