I still think of the day we drafted him, as a decent, " safe " pick. So freaking wrong. The sky is the limit.

I love the sack where he was STILL BEING BLOCKED by the o-lineman. Had one arm on Manning, the other was engaged with the tackle... just nothing you can do about him.

I said before that he still deserved to be DPOY despite him probably not putting up any "measureable" stats since 3-4 DE's don't normally put up sacks. Looks like he's going to proved me wrong on that as well, and swat a ball back in my face like he so often does.

I haven't watched that many non-texan games yet, but I have not seen anyone doing the damage that JJ Watt is on a consistent basis. He is absolutely the DPOY right now and it's not even remotely close.

Does he have a legit shot at DPOY?

Who else would be in the running after week 3.

Its amazing how already there are at least 2 games that he has completely taken over and changed the outcome, and its just his second year.

I remember Mario williams having only ONE game where he actually took over a game and he was here like 5 years. And people dont want to call mario a bust.

    I don't remember last year's draft.

Knowing what we know now, would anyone still be taken ahead of him? Von Miller MAYBE..

But I don't think so. I think we legitimately got the best player in the draft last year. Top 3 or 5 at the very least.

^It was a good draft. Cam, Aldon Smith, Watt, Julio Jones just to name a few in the top 11.

Cam would still be taken in front of him. QB's are just too valuable.

    I'd probably go

    1. Cam Newton
    2. JJ Watt
    3. Von Miller
    4. AJ Green
    5. Patrick Peterson

Why does everything have to be about Mario? Why can't JJ just be a great player?

Clay Matthews is having a great season so far if he keeps up his sacks per game he'll end up with like 30 for the season:grin:

But there is not one single player i'd trade Watt for.

    Really?

    I'd Go

    Watt
    Newton
    Miller
    Aldon Smith
    Green

In terms of how good the player is, peterson is a bit overrated

Newton had the greatest rookie season of any qb in history not sure why you'd put Watt ahead of him.

Either way, no denying in terms of hindsight... We basically got a top 3 pick if do overs could magically happen. Arguably the top pick IMO

Sometimes it's better to be lucky than good. Same thing thing with Foster. Nobody wanted him. And we didn't want him twice before we got lucky there. Another ex. Could be Joseph. We lost out on the great Asomgha, however it's spelled... And now he looked quite almost average last year and this year while Joseph looked so shutdown last year and this year. Amazing how complete these players help make the team look.

Numbers don't lie over 4000 passing yards and 700 rush with 35 td. No rookie has passed for 4000 and no qb period has rushed for 14 Tds. So yes he did have the best rookie season for a qb ever.

    Cam
    Watt
    Miller
Peterson ( overrated? Ur crazy lol)
    Smith

IMHO JJ Watt is pretty good when you take into account how he plays the football game.

There are far more relevant stats than passing yards and rushing TDs. Examples: completion percentage (TJ Yates had a better percentage than Newton), yards per pass, turnovers (Newton threw 17 interceptions). The fact that you cherry picked some stats is not proof.

Difference is that Matthews, while great at what he does, only does one thing. Watt is dominating in all facets. He already has 5.5 sacks from a position in this defense that isn't necessarily designed to get a lot of sacks...and that's when he isn't the second coming of Dikembe Mutombo. On top of that, he's almost single handedly destroying opposing teams run defense while getting double-teamed.

If there is anyone who is even remotely playing at the level of JJ Watt right now, please let me know.
