Yes, except this is not a fatwa.

Fatwas are the sharia equivalent of legal advice. Only muftis can issue fatwas. That's what the word mufti means.

We are talking about a member of the government of what is supposed to be an ally, with a population of over 180 million people, putting a bounty on the head of a US citizen.

No outrage - especially no outrage from the leftists on this board, as well as in US politics.

They must have been too busy calling the film maker an extremist who "abuses" freedom of speech.

Normally, yes. But we're talking about Pakistan here. The current President of Pakistan arguably has only a grammar school education.

No, they are simply aware that this "personally financed" $100,000 is coming out of their own pockets i.e. US taxpayer money.

The only solution is to stop supporting and funding the Pakistani government - which would make sense, except for the fact that Pakistan is in posession of a sizeable nuclear arsenal. This would necessitate another war (potentially nuclear ramifications), the costs of which would also come out of US taxpayer pockets, and with no financial return on such a war given Pakistan doesn't have anything to offer the US (in contrast to Libya, Iraq or Iran for example).

You must also take into consideration that a war with Pakistan would become more urgent than a war with Iran, given that anti-Israel sentiment and posession of nuclear weapons are more serious in Pakistan than in Iran.

Without exaggeration, Pakistan relations may be the worst decisions the US has made in its entire history across all political platforms. For this reason, there may be a sense of embarrassment rather than outrage.

It's scary to think that we are talking about a country with access to nuclear weapons here.

News just came out. It is Saturday. The reaction will come later. Not many people other than those who dedicate their lives to Islamophobia is gonna immediateky bother with an ass clown acting like an ass clown in a dysfunctional country.

I am sure the people in the US Government are already working on a response. Probably some sort of pressure for the PM to disassociate his ruling coalition with this guy and his party (or risk losing out on aid).

The thing that is worrying is the climate in which a government minister can feel free to come out with something outrageous like this, not the individual idiot.

As to your cute "Islamophobia" allegation - that word is a misnomer and a propaganda tool.

The term conflates criticism of "Islamic totalitarianism" (which I stand for) with hatred of Muslims (which I absolutely do not stand for).

The comments to that article are interesting.

    Someone makes a good point:

    Free speech: Your ideology sucks.
Hate speech: You insulted my ideology. KILL THIS GUY.

Last I checked, that film maker didn't call for anyone to kill anyone in his film.

    That's the criminal.

During his time as Railway minister, The Pakistan Railways seems to be speeding on a downward track. He has often been criticized for his gross incompetence, coupled with extreme arrogance as a Railway Minister. He was once quoted as saying, "Afghanistan and Saudi Arabia do not have Railways, why Pakistan should have it?"[4]. Some people even think that Ghulam Ahmad Bilour, is actually bent upon destroying Pakistan Railways with the connivance of Transporter Mafia in Pakistan.

    War on terror.

Messages recovered from Osama bin Laden's home after his death in 2011, including one from then al Qaeda No. 3, Atiyah Abd al-Rahman reportedly, according to the Agence France-Presse and the Washington Post, expressed frustration with the drone strikes in Pakistan. According to an unnamed U.S. Government official, in his message al-Rahman complained that drone-launched missiles were killing al Qaeda operatives faster than they could be replaced.

Just like any other war, the war on terror is also creating a lot of collateral damage. Just how much? No one really knows.

The Obama administration's position on civilian casualties is "trust us."
