Oh so not every girl who does anything in Iran will be arrested and put to death. With all the stories posted, I wasn't aware of that.

You are not witty, just annoying. Your attempt at making a point was understood after your first post.

So, according to you, Iran is "not that bad"? Yes? That's what you are trying to tell us?

Coming from someone who thinks Hamas is not a terrorist organization, not surprising.

I absolutely think Iran is horrible. There is no doubt about it. That's why I don't think there's any need to exaggerate with them. Iran is so bad that there isn't any need to try and paint them as cartoonishly evil.

Maybe you should just read the reports before you make dumb comments - the priest did not file a report, so the girls were never taken into custody. Therefore, that they have not been arrested or sentenced to anything doesn't say anything about whether anyone exaggerated or not.

Except for the posts talking about how the girls would be arrested and sentenced to death. Maybe you should read the thread.

So you are more concerned about someone's speculation that was probably made without thinking much about it than about the actual issues.

The person might be right or not, in case the girls could actually be found - we won't know as the girls have not been identified.

Your attempt at trying to be a smartass has failed. Go stand in the corner and be quiet.

Why is everything a comparison with you? It's not that I'm MORE concerned. I'm just concerned enough about portraying Iran's govt. for the crap pile that it is, and would hate to see people say that everything said against it was pure propaganda because of exaggerations and stuff. That's all.

I can actually be concerned about more than 1 thing at a time. I can be concerned about the real issues, and people over hyping things

FranchiseBlade, do you know for sure that it would be an exaggeration? Please let us know exactly what the sanction for these two girls would be, as you seem to be an expert on Iran's criminal law.

Yes, I'm an expert on Iran's criminal law. If you'd simply look at the law books put into place during the past regime but approved by the high holy leader in chapter 3 section 8 you'd see that girls attacking clerics who have yelled at them for the dress are subject to fines up to 2,000 rials, Unless the female was exposing more than 1/3 of her left nipple. Then the fine will have minimum of 10,000 rials but not to exceed 123,000 rials. If it was the right nipple exposed more than 1/3 the fine maximum will be 250,000 rials. However, no physical harm shall ever come to them and they shall have a Persian fairy tale written about them.

So you basically admit that you were talking out of your ass when you declared that people were exaggerating. You don't know anything. Thanks for playing.

Oh so now you're the expert? I've quoted Iranian law in my post, my good man. If you have law books that state something different, you are free to quote them.

In contrast to you, I never proclaimed to know whether the statement was an exaggeration or not.

    Intellectually challenged, ideologically blinded try-hard.

If you're no expert, then you aren't in a position to declare my expert knowledge, which I've been kind enough to share, invalid.

And don't be so hard on yourself.

I'll remind you that you're talking to an expert in Iranian law, sir!

Also your continued use of personal insults is a sad display. I'll just say that you're lucky we aren't in an Iranian court, because they don't put up with that stuff.

Without a doubt an exaggeration. It is usually a fine. If it ever exceeds a fine or investigation, then usually there is an ulterior motive and even this is rare.

I'm talking about rejecting the dress code. Assault obviously if proven will likely result in jail. Jail can be bad, but that goes for all of Iran, not for this particular issue.

Up until Gandhi and King, most successful protest movements have by necessity been violent; I'd be willing to view this act in that context. There's probably no reason to assume that priest isn't lying his ass off either; those multiple witness rape laws pretty much telegraph that a woman's word will never get the benefit of the doubt.
