More trouble for the Stros.. http://network.yardbarker.com/mlb/a...ickets_to_eat_lunch_with_dead_player/11731108 Houston Astros Selling Tickets To Eat Lunch With Dead Player The Houston Astros can't seem to do anything right. On the official Facebook page for the Houston Astros, the team is advertising their Legends Weekend and a chance to buy tickets to a luncheon with former 'Stros Jose Cruz and Joe Niekro. Sounds good, right? One problem, however. Joe Niekro has been dead for almost six years. The knuckleballer for Houston died in October of 2006 from a brain aneurysm. Not only can't Houston field a competitive team, but now it seems that they can't even market correctly. At least you have the Texans, Houston.
You would think at the very least they would have called theses legends to make sure they were willing to participate. That is inexcusable.
I wonder how that even happened. Did they just use old copy and forget to take Niekro's name out? And as another poster mentioned, you would think they would have called these guys to make sure they were willing to participate. When they made this call, wouldn't they have found out that he's dead, even if they didn't know before?
The mistake was that whoever put together the Facebook note substituted Niekro's name for Deshaies. The FB page noted it was the anniversary of the date that Niekro was traded to the Yankees and the Astros received Deshaies and two other players. Rather than post Cruz and Deshaies would be at the luncheon, the person mistakenly posted Cruz and Niekro.
