I'm not sure what would stop them. As long as they are being treated at a hospital. It is the avoiding being released that is the hard part.

Of course with insurance, they might try to **** you over anyway, you'll probably owe way more than you can ever afford still, but you'll feel safe wrapped in your cocoon of insurance.

BTW, I hate health insurance. My auto and home, I've never had a problem. The health insurance that costs thousands per year despite the fact that I see a doctor once a year at most, a problem every time.

If you don't realize it, I'm an advocate of universal healthcare.

SO for a person who is struggling to find a job in this economy (unemployment is over 8%) and can't afford it your suggestion is what? take some personal responsibility and leave the country?

They should take the subsidy that will cover the full cost of their health insurance.

Semantics...when the Supreme Court is referring to taxing power, it is referring to "Congress shall have Power To lay and collect Taxes". So when Congress is exercising its taxing powers...it is creating a tax. A tax deduction is Congress choosing not to use their taxing powers under a specific circumstance.

The only reason I support the idea of Obamacare at all is because I believe it's an initial step toward an eventual single-payer system. As it stands, it's not enough.

Everyone knows the new improvements to healthcare need polishing. I'm sure that Obama will address that in his second term.

2% will have to pay a penalty for not carrying insurance? Small price to pay, IMO, for the benefits we got out of the ACA. Those people are freeloaders anyway, they need to pay SOMETHING into the system.

These conservatives are worse than little girls.
Just earlier today, they whine that too many people don't pay tax, now they whine that too many get to pay them.

For fairness, I'll play devil's advocate here, because a few have come out and said that Roberts did not rule it a tax---that is not true either.

However, the following has to be noted.

So, why was Obamacare ruled a tax?

Basically, Roberts played catch and fib and found the one section of government power he was comfortable fitting Obamacare in. Since, you know, the Commerce Clause is ground zero for conservative justices (unless you happen to be Scalia and you hate medical mar1juana).

Sure, the solicitor general advanced this argument as a tentative bone when all of the conservative justices seemed hellbent to repeal Obamacare, but it was their intent to get this passed through the Commerce Clause as a way to regulate interstate markets in insurance. Of course, with the partisan makeup of this bench, that's nearly impossible. So yes, they had to watch Roberts slide this as a "tax" as the only way he would find it "acceptable".

This was after he ruled that Congress did not intend for this to be a tax so he could rule on it in the first place.

Semantics? Somewhat pointless? Maybe. But like I said, people who are taking clear sides on this (Obamacare is a tax for sure because SCOTUS said so!) did not read the opinion thoroughly.

You are really thick man. If you are unemployed you won't be paying any taxes. So Obamacare wouldn't affect you.

Even though the thing that he was in a rage about isn't an issue and he realizes that, he isn't happy about nor does he acknowledge its benefits. He just wants to be mad about SOMETHING.
"OH so Nobama is gonna tax poor people!"
    "no he isn't"
    "oh..."
Bring on the next faux rage topic!

Is this woman delusional? Subsidizing the care of those who can afford to be insurance but chose not to? They are forcing young healthy people who don't need insurance to subsidize others. Her view is the exact opposite of reality.
