Just want to note that there sure are a lot of redheads in the books/show. The Tullys, most of Lady Stark's kids, Ygritte, Melisandre, am I forgetting anyone? And Ros is a ginger, too.

I'm not saying Bronn couldn't beat him but Jaime has no idea who the guy is, so he's definitely not talking about him.

When alive and in shape Robert Baratheon was supposed to be pretty tough in a fight. Martin can't go 150 pages without someone jizzing over how great a fighter Robert was with his hammer.

I don't recall the book saying so (and I'm only currently on the 2nd book), but at least in the show, Ned was holding his own against Jamie until the guard interfered.

I don't remember if Jamie and Ned actually came to blows in the book. Ned and his men were ahorse when confronted and tried to flee\ride down whoever was in front of them. It was Neds horse falling on him that broke his leg.

No, they never fought in the book. And yes, Robert was a beast before he became a fat drunk.

Brandon Stark was always talked about as a good swordsman, better than Ned. I wonder how he would've fared against Jamie.

    What about Syrio?

Didn't Ser Loras ACTUALLY best Jaime in a duel during one of Joffrey's name days? That's how Tyrion is said to have won the knife that was used in the attempt on Bran's life after his fall from the Winterfell tower. Or was that a joust?

I'm about 1/3 through Feast for Crows and it is awfully boring. Can someone tell me if it will pick up? If not, I may skip the rest of it.

No, it doesn't really, but there are some high points, and some awfully important stuff that sets up A Dance with Dragons, which I thought was very good.

And the next book probably won't be out for another 2 1/2 years at the earliest. May as well read on if you've gotten this far.

Feast was definitely a bore, but the end was worth it. Maybe around page 6-700 and onward.

The beginning was especially tiresome, I think like almost 100 pages before you come to a chapter that has a familiar face. But interestingly enough, those that have re-read the series almost always mention enjoying AFFC much more the second time around.

Two updates on Season 3 filming:

    * Tyrion and Sansa's wedding has been filmed and will take place in Ep. 8
    * Actor who plays Pyp only did one day of filming. Seems like a safe bet that Jon's storyline next season will end with his return to the Wall, before any of the battles

In ASoS, Jon gets back to the Wall in Chapter 48. 49, 50, 51, and 52 are Arya and the Hound's arrival at the Twins and the RW. Could be the season finale. That would be funny, putting off Joff's wedding until Season 4 and making a bunch of viewers rage in the last ep, then giving them 300 days to stew before the next season.
