No way. Put your foot on his throat and stomp. This election has always been about Congress and the best thing for Democrats is to have as wide a margin as possible in the presidential race to create as big a set of coat tails as possible, not to mention the mandate thing heading into the lame duck session and new congress. Part of that equation is to demoralize the Repubs so they stay home and don't vote on the down ballot races.
