When I see a basic tweet, I understand it pretty easily, but when I see something like this I have no clue what the hell I am looking at. Can someone please show me in the BBS post format just exactly what the hell this message says?
Ok, so basically whoever tweeted it is quoting Johnshuhmann quoting chandler parsons, and adding his own input at the beginning and tweeting at Landry Fields. By putting the "." in front, the reply will show up in other peoples timelines. (Replies will only show up in people's timeline if the you are following the person that that person is replying to.) Hope that made sense.
RT is retweeting, but quoting. For example if I C-Par tweeted "I love Houston" I may tweet I know its amazing! RT @ChandlerParsons I love Houston.
ChandlerParsons tweeted "Glad all that money didn't change him @JLin7. pic.twitter.com/WsaTncMz". johnschuhmann retweeted what ChandlerParsons said. Then whoever you copied and pasted the tweet from said "@landryfields LOOK AT THIS ****" and also retweeted what johnschuhmann retweeted (which was the original ChandlerParsons tweet). Most people just hit the retweet button, but if they want to include some extra text, they have to copy and paste the original tweet with "RT" before it.
this makes sense. thank you. p.s. this is how serious news gets disseminated now? smh damn I'm an old 36 year old
Well, that tweet could have easily been shortened and cleaned up. Most experienced and/or educated users aren't as messy with their retweeting.
Great thread. I, too, have no idea about the inner workings of this twitter thing. So how do i retweet multiple persons?
it's a trending topic. if you clicked on that you would likely see a bunch of other Texans fans and likewise, posts... ...or Rage against The Machine (twitter user only since May)
It's suppose to used as a tag, or keyword; helpful when you want to search for tweets about a specific topic. Unfortunately, it's not always used correctly; people get carried away #tagging #every #single #word. Sorry, I'm not sure what you mean. Normally, if you want to retweet someone, you would click 'Retweet'. It will appear on your feed and on the feeds of those that follow you. If you want to add a comment to a retweet and/or send it to someone specific, you would use "RT" followed by the copied and pasted tweet, then add any comments and usernames (@name) before or after.
I could create # hash tags ...and search for hashtags that I see on TV ...and tweet ...and retweet ...and lookup other people's hashtags ...and follow all their tweets ...and post updates to my facebook several times a day ...and read all the posts from other people on facebook a lat each day ...and post a bunch of pinterest stuff ...and look up other people's pinterest stuff ...and share a bunch of instagram pics ...and look at other people's instagram pics ....but ya know what? f*** all that sh** Am I just old? or is all of this social networking just r****ded stuff that's used by teenage girls who have nothing better to do with their time?
lol. Social networks come in all different forms, such as BBS Hangouts. But good point - too much retweeting, etc. and too few actual original thoughts on Twitter. The one I really don't "get" is Pinterest, which is supposed to mean I should turn in my woman card.
reminded me of a post that stuck with me so much, I sat on it for months and then tweeted it so that it showed up on my facebook page as well... but I gave the poster rep and told him my intentions.
Things were simplified when they added the Quote Tweet feature and stopped using the RT tag with Retweets. Twitter is complicated/confusing if you don't use the official Twitter apps or website.
