Good win by the Texans. These division games can go either way. Nice job by the Texans controlling the clock and putting the game away early. The 43-minute time of possession was their best ever as a franchise. The Texans are the only team to start 2-0 the last three years. I wouldn't be surprised if Ben Jones is the starting right guard in the near future. He played well today and the coaches have said good things about him during training camp. Jones will eventually be our Center when it's time to get rid of Myers in three or four years. He can play guard now and then move over when the spot opens up. The Texans move up in weight class next week. No more welterweight fights. We're in the heavyweight class now. Not going to be easy defeating Peyton and the Broncos. I was checking the point spread and it's only +1. A couple days ago it was +2.5, so a lot of money has moved to the Texans side.
Why isn't Tim Dobbins starting? That dude is a crusher. Not good in coverage, but whatever edge Bradie has there (slim) is more than made up for in the run game.

Depending on how the Broncos do tomorrow night, I really wouldn't be surprised if the Texans were 1 or 2 pt favorites as the week progresses. This is gonna be about as close to a pick 'em as it's gonna get. I'm pumped. Next Sunday seems like an eternity from now.
I think he is injured. Not sure where I remember seeing that, but I definitely agree that Dobbins seems to bring more to the field than James. Although Dobbins' weakness is pass coverage, so I'm not sure he would have looked much better than James on the MJD TD today.
It was clear when they brought James in and that it wasn't open competition at ILB. Sharpton wasn't given a fair crack at winning the job and now he's shut down. I appreciate that it's a plus when you can bring in a starter that knows the system inside and out, a guy that you are comfortable with, especially at a value meal price. But James is washed up and is a big concern. We've been talking about health and the big 3, but I have nightmares about losing Cushing for any stretch of time. Being fair, there was no way to keep Ryans under the cap and they got fantastic return for him. I don't know who else they could have brought in that would have prevented a drop off. Just have to pray that Sharpton and Dobbins get back in there quickly.

This morning on 610 they said Jones has been playing really well in practice and they want to give him some in game reps in case he needs to play RT or RG and right now Caldwell needs less plays than Newton to be season ready.
Caldwell's poor play against Miami couldn't have helped. Brooks is apparently lagging well behind where they wanted him to be. It is a good move to get a rookie some real game action if he's going to be needed to cover Smith and Caldwell.
so why people were saying that it would be a close game? that MJD will get a lot of yards? Ben Tate, (the backup RB) had more yards than him.
Just watched the game again. Kareem Jackson has gotten so much better. What a difference two seasons can make. He may live up to being picked in the first round.
I'm sure a lot of that improvement has come from the influence of Jonathan Joseph. Crazy how our secondary has improved so much! :grin:
The work in the offseason has payed off. Guy has been turning his head on routes and making plays. I still worry about the deep routes but there has been enough improvement to where I don't consider him a liability.
