Maybe they are targeting the "have to have it now" crowd. I'm not sure how long it would take to be able to go into a store and purchase a newly released iPhone off the shelf. I would guess it'd be a few weeks for people to want to purchase one that badly. Not 100% though.
This is exactly the reason you buy an iPhone, the hype. Think about how great you'll feel walking into work, seeing a friend on the street, or talking to a random person and explaining how your marginally better iPhone than theirs was well worth the hours you spent in line. As an iPhone user you live for that moment.
Same reason people will pay ridiculous amounts for "championship gear" at a game as opposed to waiting a week later and getting it from a store for far cheaper. Or why people stand in line in the first place and waste days of their life. People do that for all sorts of things. Some people get joy out of "being first" or feeling cool or whatever - and are willing to pay money for that.
These yankees must have no jobs to spend a whole day waiting in line. For a city that is fast paced you'd figure they would just pre-order instead of wasting time. If i'm right then its ironic that ppl buy new phones without even holding a job. priorities!
Hah, I remember buying the "Locker Room" tshirts from Foley's in West Oaks Mall the day after. In retrospect the hats were freaking hideous.
This makes me hate people even more. Apple turned this into such a frenzy. Just wait till it backfires with people getting robbed and stuff like when PS3 came out.
Yeah, like when I stood in line at DPS for a whole afternoon about 2 weeks ago. But, man did I feel cool walking out of that place with a temporary drivers license in my pocket! These idiots keep Apple's prices abominably high and create long wait times because the demand is so strong. So, by avoiding these idiots, you can buy another product (that is maybe slightly inferior) at a more reasonable price and without any hassle. That might be worth changing buying behavior over.
I don't recall this one...what's with the color scheme? Did the company that made them assume the Suns were going to win and just changed the team logo?
You don't have to sell it in your own country, other countries might have later sell dates so you can try targeting buyers there.
It won't be unlocked though, so its practically useless in another country when the phone is sim locked to at&t. (CDMA is only popular in this country, so you can't even sell the Verizon, Sprint, and Cricket version). Unless those people are willing to pay a ton and wait for the unlock methods to start appearing. With that being said, I'm not sure when the unlocked version will be on sale but I think its $649
