Well it is good that absolutely NOBODY is expecting him to make it through a 16 game stretch since that is what EVERYBODY has said so it shouldn't be surprising if he goes down with an injury. Right? I'm not attacking you just the overall mindset that Vick wasn't going to make it through the season anyway. He's looked rather resilient though through 2 games of getting smacked around. Quick to hop up, no going out of the game and through it all leading two straight 4th quarter comebacks. The thing that has me worried is the offensive line injuries in conjunction with Vick's health. Kelce's knee injury looked like it could be a season ending one. King Dunlap, injury or not, needed to be replaced. Reynolds and Bell actually played well in their replacement roles. Jamaal Jackson is still a free agent after failing to come to terms with the Giants earlier this year. The Eagles need to seriously take a look at him if he is in any type of good football shape even though they won't because of Mudd's blocking schemes. I like the defense, the mindset and the resiliency of the Eagles so far but the mistakes and injuries are still worrisome. And I'd like to thank Houston again for Demeco Ryans. He has been sick through these first 2 games. :grin:
Vick always looks resilient until he takes a blow that even he can't easily get up from. Enjoy the success while it lasts. Too bad we have to wait so long for them to play the Cowboys.

No, I'm talking about coming back from mistakes. Last year he wouldn't do this. He wouldn't lead the team down the field to score go ahead tds after mediocre or horrible play. He'd be committing another turnover. Now the defense has a lot to do with that because it looks like they can actually hold the lead, something they had trouble with last year as well. Those are two big areas of improvement though.
Eagles needed him more than we did, we're the #1 defense so far in the young season (despite Wade Phillip using the good ole boy system to plug the ILB spot that Demeco vacated). He was simply too expensive for the limited role he played in our defense, plus he's more a 4-3 MLB than a 3-4 ILB. Sometimes lesser teams benefit from the better teams' spoils of riches. :grin:
DeMeco Ryans has been so awesome (I'm an Eagles fan). He was pumping up the team after Vick scored that TD. After the TD I had faith in the D. Last year I would be constantly waiting for the D to mess up. Vick had a great game. He had only 1 terrible interception which he made while trying to make a play which I'm semi ok with (obviously I would prefer it not to be there). I want Vick making plays and throwing the ball after he escapes the rush instead of just running and getting it. The 2nd interception was a fluke. Should have been caught by the WR. The McCoy fumbles are a little scary since he does carry the ball loosely. But it's fun rooting for the Eagles and Texans and their awesome defenses.
Ten days to prepare, and THAT is what they did? 1. Why is Felix Jones on this team? His football IQ is ZERO. If Garrett has a doghouse, this guy better be in it. 2. Why is Dan Connor on this team? I never thought anyone could come in and make Keith Brooking look good by comparison. This guy better be sleeping next to Jones in the doghouse. 3. Rob Ryan. Why exactly does everyone think this guy is some kind of defensive genius? If the single gimmick he comes up with in his 'game plan' doesn't work, then the team is screwed for that game. 4. Pete Carroll is the new Jerry Sloan of the NFL. I have never seen a bigger bunch of punks and thugs on a field than I saw from Seattle. And they were swinging punches and trying to fight from the very first play. That's coaching. They had to have been directed to play that way. Obviously they came to the conclusion that the replacement refs are not going to be calling the blatant cheap shots that the regular refs would call. That so-called 'block' by Golden Tate was possibly the dirtiest thing I have ever seen in a NFL game, and I am including Haynesworth in that. That little punk should be suspended. I mean, that is how you could literally KILL someone on the football field. And of course the refs didn't even notice it. Anyway, ugh what a terrible game.
Not to take away anything from the Texans but let's see how the defense holds up once they play a team that isn't contending for the worst record in the NFL. I'm not saying they won't be good but I expect a bit more of a game and the other offenses gaining more yardage when they play the Packers or Ravens than the Dolphins and Jaguars. I know that Ryans didn't fit the Texans scheme but if he stays healthy and continues this level of play for a swap of 3rd round picks and a 4th it was a steal for the Eagles. BTW, wow I didn't know the Texans were starting an Arkansas State lineman. Nice.
Given his contract and lack of use in the Texans D, it is a steal for both teams, if that's even possible.
Maybe but if I recall those savings don't kick in until next year, right? They actually lost cap room this year on the trade I remember reading that somewhere. And I'm not insulting the Texans at all and I hope you guys don't take it that way, I just think more could have been made from a trade but then again I'm not a NFL GM myself so what do I know.
Just wanted to check in and say I hate the Eagles now. I know it isn't a big deal to most but they acted like they were UL Monroe knocking off Arkansas. Pretend like you've been there before man. Embarrassing for a team of their expectations to act like that at home.
NFL vets, especially ones coming off career threatening injuries with fat contracts, rarely get traded. And on the rare occasion they do get traded, it is typically for a 5th rounder or some other middling crap. The Texans got max value, and Demeco is playing dutifully for the Eagles. Honestly, both parties benefited.
I wasn't saying anything different except maybe they could have benefited more.....maybe not. Like I said, I'm not a GM.
Honestly nothing too wild. They were excited and jumped around like some high schoolers that had just won their first game. It happens. But I don't expect that reaction from teams doing what they're supposed to do at home.
I see but at the same time I can understand their emotion. Yes, they were the Vegas favorites (-3 was the final line I believe) but the vast majority of experts (places like NFL, ESPN, etc.) picked the Ravens to win. The Philadelphia sports media didn't give the Eagles a chance and their own fans expected the team to get walloped even booing the team as they went in at halftime. After that and then creating so many mistakes, being down so late in the game, coming back to take the lead and have the defense hold the lead against the caliber of a team that the Ravens have, I can see why the Eagles would be excited or overly excited as some might see it.
Um, why? He put the crown of his head and left shoulder right into the guy's chest. Perfectly legal block in every way. The defender probably had a solid 40-50 pounds on the receiver, but because he wasn't paying attention, a block he normally would have been able to blow through stopped him dead in his tracks.

It is an illegal "blindside" block if the initial force of the contact by a blocker's helmet (including facemask), forearm, or shoulder is to the head or neck area of an opponent when the blocker is moving toward his own endline and approaches his opponent from behind or from the side. I think this play was pretty much exactly this. You can see from how his head snaps that the force of the contact was the head area because the blocker launched himself upward into the defender.
