Its already started. These games count just as much... just ask New England fans what happens when you can't take care of a cream-puff at home. A loss next week doesn't mean much of anything other than that this team won't go undefeated this year.

I can't believe people and post game hosts are complaining about more 'down the field' plays. The Jags defense was giving the intermediate routes and Schaub took them. what doesn't show up in the stats is that 40 yard pass interference on the pass to Jean or the pseudo dropped td mistimed by O.D. (I think O.D could have broken loose there) Also, when you're up by three scores why would you want to air it out? who does that? Battlefighting is simple and effective..aerial attack (get schaubie in a rhythm) followed by tanks & infantry(run and continue to run if they can't stop it) If it turns into a shootout, this offense has proven time and time again it can counter-fire with the best of them. Can't wait til next sunday. =)

Great game today for the defense. Offense was kind of up and down but it was still pretty solid. Nice game for Tate and Foster. Next week will be a test in that mile high atmosphere. Should be awesome to watch. GO TEXANS.
Trying to force the vertical game when a team is playing coverage back is a recipe for three and outs. Anyone that knows real world football knows that Kubiak just dialed up a perfect 10 with his playcalling. OWNED time of possession almost 3 quarters to 1. Stayed patient and killed them with shallow cuts. If the run game keeps moving the chains, there's no need to worry about the home run deep ball. I also want to make a point and say that Kareem Jackson definitely had a good game today. Gabbert made the entire secondary look good, but Kareem handled Blackmon extremely well. Going in to next week, it will be an interesting red circle day on the calender. Manning is the perfect QB to dissect the soft coverage of Wade's scheme with quick throws. On the flipside, he's a pure pocket passer, so the front 5 could destroy him if he gives them 3-4 seconds. Texans D needs to be prepared for a heavy diet of slants and outs. If you are ready and can jump the routes or if Peyton slings low balls on Watt's side, you've got real TO opportunities. James is looking like a liability. The "Ryans isn't a good fit for our 3-4 scheme" is the biggest line of BS we've been fed in a long time. Still have yet to hear one single person back that up with actual reasoning. He couldn't stay no matter what, but don't try and claim that he wasn't handling his role. New to Wade's system and hampered by injury, he was still three times the ILB that James is. K Martin went out for one deep ball that Matt sent out of bounds. He didn't break away, so Schaub may have thrown it out on purpose. Lestar broke Ross badly on a move and Ross had to wrap him up to prevent a big play. Pass Interference. Walter and OD were having good games, and there weren't a ton of throws, so that's fine.
Where's that poster who keeps clamoring that Kubiak sucks at play-calling? He completely had Jacksonville buried today. He had that defense befuddled basically all day. Also, ubigred, at what point is JJ Watt elite?? Because so far, he's giving your "opinion" a big finger wag.
JJ was starting to get doubled team consistently there...and Im not talking about the "double teams" that Mario faced, Im talking about real double teams. Watt has to start being considered elite, even for those that have reservations. His impact is off the charts. For instance, there was one play where Gabbert was trying to go to Watt's side of the field...Watt jumped up and it caused Gabbert a slight moment of hesitation. And when Gabbert finally got rid of the ball, his throw was off because he was trying to make sure Watt couldnt knock it down. At the end of the play, it only shows up as an incomplete pass in the box score for Gabbert, but Watt was 100% the cause of that. You cant put a number on the kind of impact Watt has on any given play. The guy is a total stud.
I don't understand why the nfl doesn't count the deflected passes as passes defended in their stats! he would have the same as some cornerbacks. And at least 1/2 an int for every pass that gets intercepted off the deflection.
Stats lie. There were only 23 possible plays that a tackle could be made (14 rushing plays and 9 completed passes). Edit: 22 plays. No tackle on the Jags TD.
Beyond that, Cushing was all over the field. He had a great game. Quin did very well too. Barwin was nonexistent, but part of that is probably because Watt played out of his mind. The only guy on D who had a demonstrably bad game was Bradie James.
Other than the blown coverage on MJD, what else did Bradie James do wrong? Lets remember that MJD is a great running back and makes linebackers look foolish for a living.
Bradie James's job is to fill gaps and stop the run (not to rush the QB). He seemed to do a pretty good job of that today against a very good RB.
