And after MR Obama is re-elected the GOP better come to grips with it and learn how to deal with the other side. Stop the obstruction and start working with people and get things done. Congress is at it's lowest approval in history. Quit acting like babies.

Mr. Obama doesn't have much influence on the economy. Congress, specifically the House leadership can wield infinitely more influence through tax and spend laws. But put all that aside and tell me what governmental strategies would quickly move the unemployment rates in the US.

Any strategy, any philosophy from any party.

 

Hillary/Castro ticket is the ticket. 16 more years.

Blacks accept Obama. They see a black man when they look at Obama. I believe the democrats have a decent chance of winning Texas this year for the first time since 1976. Not as many blacks voted when it was two white guys running against each other.

Not exactly. I think it really depends what policies Romney implements and also on a lot of things beyond Romney's control. If Romney implements the Ryan budget they may well lead to a short term recession as massive spending cuts take enough money out of the economy to slow it down. At the same time if Romney follows through with more tax cuts without addressing the spending size rating agencies might further downgrade US' bond rating since that would greatly increase the deficit. If Romney follows through with a hawkish military policy attacking Iran and other countries in the Middle East that could further increase oil prices. Finally if businesses, states, the medical industry and insurance companies have factored in implementing the ACA suddenly repealing it might lead to great health care costs and more uncertainty regarding health care that could erode corporate profits.

In general though my own guess about a Romney Admin. is that it won't make too many radical moves (other than repealing ACA) but will be moderately right of the Obama admin.. I don't think it would lead to disaster but one of the biggest problems is with Romney you really don't know how he is going to govern since he has disavowed a lot of what he did as a governor.

 

Just pointing out that the article you link to is from 2009. I highly doubt that the Democrats take Texas even if there is as much a surge in black voters this year as in 2008.

 

I went to Rice and left after my freshman year to join the Army, then came back as a veteran to finish college at Rice.

I can tell you with fact, that other than the ROTC students, I was the only one at Rice to do that, because Rice students thought they were too good to join the Army. But you can't really call out Rice students any more than our counterparts at Oxford and Cambridge.
