You're right about Jones, but Asik...idk. I just don't see him breaking out like that at 26-27. A very good defensive big man? Yes.

Lin will not just be a media star, he will be the media super duper all-star with moon added to it. Every Lin by-line is a "click" stat to their article. :p

Most potential is they have the most amount of players with the potential to be stars. And i didn't add Martin because he has already broken out in his career and he's 28.

Finally someone else who think he can be a star. I really think Houston's starting five is filled with star players.
Lin- Will make all-star game but can also reach all-star level.
Martin- Still has time to establish himself as a star.
Parsons- One of the most athletic young players in the league.
PDPatt- Can easily be an all-defensive player.
Asik- Can be a great defensive player and a top tier Center.

all you really mean is the Rockets are the youngest team in the NBA.

Yeah, and Martin still has more potential than half of the players on your list. Marcus Morris...lulz. And probably only about 2 of them will ever be as good as Martin. I will be so freaking thrilled if Lamb could learn to score like Martin.

I really just put all the young players in the team. I still think Martin can show hes a star though but thats not that far from where he is.

    Negatives:
    Lin- Turnovers. Ball Control.
    Martin- Aging.
Parsons- Good at everything. Great at nothing.
    PdPatt- Undersized.
    Asik- All D. No O.

    Need More?

All the flaws and negatives will be seen during the 1st half of the season. How they play in the 2nd half will determine whether or not they make the playoffs.

Usually if one of these breaks out it is considered a success.
Lin and Martin did that already so it depends on the other 3 and the rookies.

Can't wait for the season to start. I'm not from houston, and out of the NBA for long. Will they be showing preseason games in league pass? Wanted to see our guys playing against westbrick and KD.

It will be considered a success. The frontcourt can really become great and as long as one breaks out we should be fine.

Hakeem was very good from 22 (rookie yr) - 29, but he kicked it into another gear around 30. I don't think Omer needs to be an offensive force to be considered an all-star. Keeping up his superior defensive intensity for 30+ minutes would be considered a breakout imho considering he's been limited to 15mpg or less. I'll be happy if he can just catch passes and make an occasional shot off the PnR on the offensive end. Upgrading his ft% would be nice too.

OP needs to clearly define what makes an NBA star? If you don't have a scale to go by, then everyone has his standard.

I like how 82games.com defines 'star.' It's simple and omits defensive prowess of players such as Omer. Below is how a player catagorized with their CAREER stats.

    Rating = points/game + rebounds/game + assists/game
    Star -- 20+
    Solid -- 15 to 19.9
    Role Player -- 10 to14.9
    Deep Bench -- 5 to 9.9
Complete Bust -- less than 5

    Career wise:

    Kevin Martin 24 - Star
    Chander Parson 20.7 - Star
    Jeremy Lin 15.4 - solid
Patrick Patterson 12.1 - Role player
Toney Douglas 11.9 - Role player
Omer Asik 7.8 - Deep bench
    Marcus Morris 3.5 - Bust

I will not list any of the rookies without NBA stats. The chances of any one of them becoming a career star is really low. Take a close look at past draft picks and if you think any of our first round rookie is gonna become a career star, you are setting yourself up for disappointment!

    Draft picks #11-30 from 1989-2008:

Lin is already a "media star" and given the team situation (i.e. few other options and the ball in his hands every play) he is likely to put up very good numbers for the foreseeable future. Lin is by far the safest bet to turn into a "star."

Outside of Lin, I think D-Mo has the best chance to become a so called star. He's a young 7 footer who already has a versatile offensive game. We've seen a lot of Euro bigs fall into obscurity, but one of them (outside of Dirk) has to eventually make it... right? Probably not, but we watch because of that small sliver of hope.

Lin is already a star in terms of media attention. I think Motiejunas has the highest ceiling among all our players though.

Wrong! He's got the best 360 teabag in the NBA.

I like Lin and DMo for immediate, above average stats, and Lamb in 2 yrs

The guy with the highest ceiling on the team is Jeremy Lamb. The question is if he can take advantage of that talent.
