I listed exactly what happened. You omitted anything that might seem normal and rational.

Guess again with who's providing the spin, Potsy

This. OBL is killed under Obama's command and by a decision Obama made to send in SEALS, Obama has nothing to do with that.

People in the Middle East Riot over a movie made by some nut cases in Burbank, and Al Qaeda under the cover of those protests kill a US Ambassador Obama is personally responsible.

    you're very naive

You really think this is about a movie which came out some time ago? Well before Sept 11? Come on, use your brain son. You're falling for the liberals' desperate attempt to make this about the movie...

Sure, this is about more than the movie, but the movie is the catalyst. There has been 10 anniversaries of 9/11 and there isn't a riot every year.

There are resentments from histories centuries past, there is anger toward US policy (supporting dictators in the region, the Israel/Palestine mess, invasion of Iraq, drone strikes, etc.) under the current and past administrations. There are plenty of contributing causes to the protests and the violent parts of it. But all these things have been present for a long time now and the protest happened after the movie got posted on YouTube.

I know your kind wants to blame Obama no matter what. But you can make, and have made, your own threads about it. This thread is about Romney's statement compared to the embassy's, so why don't you say something about the topic of the thread and leave the other stuff for your other threads?

Blame him for being a muslim.

Then blame him for listening to his pastor Jeremiah Wright in his church.

Its either one of these two that always pops up.

Have you paid any attention to the Middle East over the course of the last, oh, I don't know, three thousand years or so? If so, using the term "unprecedented region wide unrest" seems wildly inaccurate.

Yes, finally a real crisis; we also might finally find out if the Texans have a real solution at RB in Arian Foster next week vs. the Broncos.

We all know the Texans will deploy their forces and use a wide range of air raids to suppress and eventually destroy the Denver Broncos and their crazy Dictator Peyton Manning before Manning has a chance to order an assault on Texan defensive positions.

Will have to wait for that answer on foster until week 4

It's the offensive line. Foster didn't build that.

From what I understand of it all, the embassy statement came out before the news of the ambassador's death, but Romney's criticism of it was made with the mistaken impression that it came out afterward (or else they knew better, but hoped no one else would figure it out). I think Obama's retration of the embassy statement was probably also done not realizing it preceded the ambassador's death. And then they've all been playing catch-up since. So, Romney doesn't have any actual problem with the statement, but he can't admit it now without hurting his candidacy. Same for Obama.

So, the real difference between the two is that the embassy statement was made when the riots were just starting to brew and was pragmatically aimed at communicating with their neighbors that we really don't hate them and we don't agree with the filmmaker and please don't burn down our embassy because we're not the blasphemers you're looking for. All the statements from Romney (and Obama a little) were just politicking for the American audience, the safety of ambassadors and foreign relations be damned.
