For those people always looking for new shows to watch, watch this show. It is one of the best detective series you'll find. One of the best in ages frankly. Idris Elba is amazing. The acting on the whole is amazing. He storylines are very engaging and creative. And it's typical British - short seasons, not a lot of episodes or seasons. Only 2 seasons of 10 total episodes. Much much better than the America counterparts CSI or Law and Order and the like. Watch it. You will not be dissapointed.
Definitely will watch it since you guys are comparing to Sherlock and of course he was great in The Wire. And holy cow, didn't realize he was British. lol
I like Luther better than Sherlock... Which is saying a lot. Luther doesn't have the humor mind you but it just seems more intense in a good way.
Glad I saw this thread, looked up this show and first episode has already grabbed me in. Very intense for sure and Idris Elba is awesome. Time to waste my entire Saturday on this show.
Great show. I felt like the second season was a bit of a drop from the first, but mainly because there was less Ruth Wilson. Oh, and because there were fewer episodes.
Every psycho in every episode is a middle age white guy. It's racist and ageist. I love the show btw. info about series 3 (only 4 episodes I think) and possible movie after Spoiler
Well most psychos are middle aged white guys. I love this show as well, but it's definitely not better than Sherlock. Sherlock's story lines and twists are once in a generation type writing.
Yeah, I was on Netflix about a year ago trying to find a new tv show to watch and I came across Luther. I noticed that Idris Elba was the main actor, so I figured I would give it a shot. As it turned out, the tv show is one of the best detective shows I've seen in a long time. Idris is a freaking beast.
Thanks for the recommendation JayZ750. Almost done with Season 1 One question: Does Luther ever change clothes...lol
I just watched the first two episodes over the weekend. Was hooked when he did the yawn thing. Always good to see the chick from Rome too.
Finished the first season on Netflix... and WOW. Final 2 episodes really kept me up at my seat. Sad to see season 2 is only 4 episodes but here I go!
One of the many shows that's been on my list of stuff to finally get around to watching. Got through The Wire and 2 seasons of Deadwood this summer.
Season 3 trailer <iframe src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/_5yY7MOUKIs" allowfullscreen="" width="560" frameborder="0" height="315"></iframe> Starts in July. Only 4 episodes though
Watching Seasons 1 & 2 today - pretty damn good! I wanted to watch Sherlock but realized I still remembered to much of that show so I decided to watch this instead. It's almost like Sherlock except he's not quite as good a detective, and he's got a unique vibe about him... it's not a self-righteous vibe like Batman or House, but more like Keanu Reeve's Constantine. The plot is definitely interesting. The show has scared me a bit by showing the downtrodden places and ghettos of London - those buildings are so creepy. And what's wrong with Alice's lips?
4 episodes. wtf. BBC is putting out amazing shows, rivaling ShowTime and HBO...but what's up with their lack of funding more shows and seasons.
