The wife and I are very seriously considering a move back to the Houston area (The Woodlands/Spring to be more specific) and I'm looking for a new gig. I've been sending my resume out for a couple of months now but have had 0 hits. Since I've mostly been going strictly through online job boards, I figure I'm just one of a thousand and have no advantages because I have no connections. I need some help. I have a very good resume (thanks to dandorotik), just need someone to actually look at it. So, any good headhunter suggestions would be greatly appreciated (and repped). My background is in project management, account management and I currently run a small sales department for a synthetic turf manufacturer (which also involves scheduling, logistics, sales, bid proposals, contract management, etc). TIA
You can check in with Robert Half. They have a branch in the Woodlands, I believe. Although, they mainly specialize in ACCT/FIN, they may be able to give you a lead for other areas. My brother in law's brother used them and he found a job pretty quick.
I should have added that I'm not entirely crazy about using these huge employment staffing agencies. To me, that's just as bad as going through the online job boards. No personal service and they seem to be more concerned with temp placements in lower-level positions.
¡Yay! <img src="http://couponlove.files.wordpress.com/2011/01/yay.jpg"> New gig? ima_drummer2k? but, srsly folks, I know one headhunter none.
Send me your resume. My neighbor does construction management all over Houston, and I know his company is expanding. Seems like that would relate to your experience. I'll talk to him over some beers this weekend.
you pretty much gotta check in once a week with these staffing agencies once you're registered and meet with them, or else they'll forget about you faster than lightening. They got too many people they're trying to recruit and too busy to remember your resume.
I think most would find it annoying if you did a weekly check in. But idk.. I used to wait a couple weeks before I contacted them.
