The mods are awesome. After my association with the Bobcats wore me out, I used a total conversion mod which fully changed the game to the 1997-98 season. Played with T-Mac and Vinsanity in Toronto. A lotta fun.
I have to side with Yung-T on the queso argument. I agree that playing "real basketball" is the most fun way to play. It sucks playing someone who abuses the "easy" tactic for 80% of gameplay: 1. spin dunks (I hate this) 2. trying to steal/reach in the whole way down the court 3. Lebron hop step to easy layup These are just the one's that I hate the most. Some people say that moving the ball around to jack up a bunch of 3s is cheesing, but it's a relatively low percentage shot, so I'm fine with that. http://www.operationsports.com/foru...rtation-cheese-anatomy-cheese-volume-1-a.html
Okay that's pathetic. I understand an overuse of moves such as the spin dunk can get annoying, but I just read this, and if all of these things bother you then you're highly anal and just flat out hopelessly unrealistic. 1. Always use the turbo button?????? What in the hell is wrong with that? You go faster, you dunk easier, and you flat out have a better chance at getting the ball to the basket. Dumb. And this leads me to the next bullet point... 2. Always drive the lane???? THAT'S WHAT BASKETBALL COACHES TELL YOU TO DO! If you can get to the basket at will, THAT'S WHAT YOU'RE SUPPOSED TO DO! Why take a low percentage 3 point shot when you can get a dunk or a layup every time! Unbelievable that would upset anybody, because here's a hint. Play some defense! It's not that hard to get in front of the defender and slow him down. If this bothers you and hinders your enjoyment of the game, then that's just pathetic. If you are incapable of playing defense and stopping an opponent, then buy a new game, but driving to the basket as much as you can is just what you're advised to do as a basketball player, and that's all it comes down to. 3. "Shoot threes. Lots of threes. Even with players who cant shoot. Shoot transition threes. Fast break threes. Kickout threes." You serious? Shooting a 3 point shot is "cheese"? Pathetic. Transition 3's and Kickout 3's are some of the best plays in basketball! How can you complain about a play that is HIGHLY used in the NBA today???? In terms of shooting with Centers who aren't 3 point threats or something like that, I understand that, but don't even for one second tell me that shooting a transition, fast break, or kickout 3 is wrong or "cheese", because that's a commonly used basketball play. If you can't stop it, then once again....buy a new game. 4. Utilize mismatches....you must be freaking joking me. MISMATCHES ARE SOUGHT OUT IN THE GAME OF BASKETBALL. Obviously...you have to have them in the flow of the game, and starting somebody like John Wall at center is just ridiculous, but if you're telling me it's "cheese" to "utilize mismatches", you're a joke. They are key in the game of basketball, and there's a reason people are always yelling out from the bench when there's a mismatch you're supposed to exploit. IT'S BECAUSE IT'S PART OF THE GAME. 5. Post up "cheese"....I'm not even going to spend time on this. If you can't stop a consistant post move or a post player who's dominating, then not only are you bad, but you're just annoying for complaining about it. You go in the post when it's working. It opens the entire offense up, and if you're dominating in the post, then freaking utilize it. It's a great play. 6. Defensive sliders...Play tight? I mean I don't personally have any experience with it, because I don't really play people who ever adjust the sliders, but if you want to put a really good defender on somebody to "play tight" on them, why not? You have a better chance at forcing turnovers. Doing it to an extensive level with each and every player? Okay you got me. That's annoying. But having your best couple defenders playing tight? No problem at all. That's just basketball and tough defense. 7. 3-2 Zone "cheese". It's a defense. There are plenty of ways to beat the 3-2 zone, and if you can't, then you're just not knowledgable about the game of basketball and once again....buy a different game. Zones are a part of the game fellas. If you can't figure out the equalizer for it, then sorry. But don't complain about it. 8. Play exclusively as the Heat or Thunder...Literally the only thing I agree with on this list. It's annoying, simply because I want diversity when I play. i want to use other players and play against other players. 9. Take at least 70% of the team's shots with one player...This one is a little circumstantial. If the player your shooting with is shooting a high percentage and just can't be stopped? Why not keep shooting with him? Play some defense! It's not that hard...If he's shooting a low percentage and the game is becoming a blowout because of him? Okay now it's time to work the ball around. But don't complain if you just can't stop somebody. 10. Steal "Cheese"....I will admit I'm a culprit of this, and I understand why it's annoying. I've gradually gone away from it as I've played the game, but once again...this is just a complaint because of ineptitude. It is not that hard to just inbound the ball safely and effectively. Just pay attention and you'll be just fine. Not gonna go into the rest of the post because this is getting long. I just went through the list of 10 things. However it seems to me that the high percentage plays that are hard to stop are what frustrate people. My advice to you is play some defense, pay attention, and don't complain about things that are highly advised in the actual game of basketball. Yes there are some annoyances that people do (spin dunk, hop step, among others), but they can be stopped! There is always something you can counter with in the game of basketball. According to this list, just about every aspect of basketball that is used as a competitive advantage is "cheese", which is just stupid and pathetic. Shooting 3's? Driving the lane? TURBO???? Pathetic dude....If ALL OF THIS STUFF bothers you, then once again...buy a new game. But have fun with NBA Live 13! I'm sure that'll be SO much better!
Easy "sizzle". Simmer down. I only mentioned 3 things that I hate. The website that I linked I thought was pretty funny and semi-true, but you're acting like I typed out all that stuff. I just linked it. And I have mentioned on many posts in the last few pages that I intend to buy the game. I will just limit my online play because I do enough offline. And the utilizing mismatches post is the equivalent to putting a 99 speed WR at QB in the old madden (although not as extreme). He is mentioning putting Javale Mcgee at SG (C with enough speed to keep up and ridiculous length to stop many shots), not torching Kevin Martin with D-Wade.
I'm a pc guy too, but bc mods can make your game so amazing, it will be a while b4 2k13 is better. Takes a while for those mods to kick in. And i need them b/c i'm super picky about cyberfaces. 2k never gets them or accessories right. Not even team colors. Reds always looks pink. Blacks look grey, etc.
Plus i have to wait while they figure out the best tutorials so i can learn how to make my own cyberface like i did for 2k12. It wasn't very good, but at least i got all my tattoos in and that was good in enough for me.
I should have prefaced my statement. I wasn't directing that (admittedly long) post at you. It was more of a broad rant towards the people who find that kind of stuff just too horrible to play the game. In terms of the mismatches...I understand what you're saying, but honestly I've been playing 2k since 2k7....and I've never once run into somebody who puts in substitutions like that on a serious level. It's maybe occurred with me 2-3 times total, and that's clearly just some dude and his friends having a good time. Nobody just does that with the idea in mind that they're completely serious and playing to win, and if they do, then yes...that's really just dumb. However it's just not common enough to complain about.
I got ya. No problems here. Honestly, I have not seen a mismatch like the one's mentioned much either. I will see putting LeBron at PG, but he pretty much runs the point forward anyway. I just thought it was an amusing list to read through, I thought.

I've put Lebron at point guard at times, and find that some of the point guards will actually contain him when he drives- which IMO is stupid since Lebron is built like a tight end and most point guards are very small.
Those mods do seem really cool; could they possibly make legit seasons, like the 1995 or 1997? If I got it on the PC, could I still use a controller or would I have to use the mouse? I'm not computer saavy. I've got a laptop.
2k12 has seasons for years past including 95 and 97 i believe complete with draft classes from those years and beyond. So you can draft Kobe, Lebron, etc. I tend to cheat and tank each year i know there is going to be a big time star.
Really? Damn, I spend tedious time trying to recreate those years for the Rockets. It would always seem to mess up my roster, as players would have their last names changed, or their first names literally be one letter.

People are cheap and take the fun out of it no matter what game but it is bad when you are winning and still annoyed. In my last 15 games online, I have played against the Heat or Lakers every single game. It is pretty much drive in with Kobe or Lebron every play. Anyone can do that. Takes no talent. If you can get a good team game going then you can be unstoppable though. I find that a lot of people let the computer play defense. I always control the guy guarding the ball carrier. It is easier to get in front of them and force them into that stupid behind the backboard layup or something of that sort. You just have to use other stupid cheap tactics to even it up sometimes....take charges until they stop driving it in or whatever. If they drive in with lebron or kobe every play, it gets easier to get in front and try to foul them out. I can live with all of the main problems people have. I do hate the snowbirding and the stupid animations that keep your player out of the plays for much longer than needed. Hopefully this next one improves rebounding and shot blocking as well. I block shots but its the ones that should be blocked dont get blocked and the ones that are questionable get blocked. Almost all of my friends have stopped playing any basketball games because of the stupid little things. It is not very inviting to new players either. I will buy it every year regardless. Hopefully NBA Live will get going in the next few years to force 2K to make the first flawless bball game.
NBA Live is an utter joke. It doesn't even belong in the same sentence as 2K, and the odds of it improving anytime soon are absolutely ZERO.
I'm not saying it wouldn't have...but I'm just stating the facts. You look at NBA Live 13 and it's impossible to not see a completely inept game.
