I like to play the sympathy card without totally bad mouthing the employer. Q:You did all that? A: "Yeah, it was challenging but I learned something new, like that time [when they ****ed me over but now I'm blatantly bull****ting it by turning it into an opportunity "they handed to me" for you to read between the lines]..." Q: So why don't you just stay there/get promoted there? A: "I just want the opportunity/chance to do more and expand [into a path they won't ****ing give me]...yadda yadda" The trick is that people/HR expect you to spin in order to protect yourself. What you do is spin to make it look like you're protecting your former employer while giving them the true impression that you got jobbed and their defensive spin detectors will do the rest.
Good advice! I always look at it like, no matter how bad your situation was, they were your employer, and this company could be your next employer, and saying negative things about any aspect of a former employer to a potential employer should just be avoided- but, like anything in job search, there are always exceptions to the rule.

Had an interview with a restaurant. They offered me a position as FoH manager. money is there, and it's a good company. Afraid to accept it because I'm still waiting on the food service company, who I talked about earlier in the thread, to make their final offer. My father works for the company and said the VP said I'm in, but I'm tired of waiting for them to call.
