Is it just me, or does Mitt have the most unsettling, s***eating grin in his face here after delivering his false attack statement about Libya? Spoiler
The immediate politicization of this event by a large number of republicans just goes to show that they belong right where they are with regards to the executive branch... On the freaking sidelines.
Your comedy is a bit tiresome this time. Might want to pick your spots a little better. To be honest, I did laugh some.
Amen. I've been trying to think of a similar situation where a presidential candidate attacked a sitting President and his administration immediately after a fatal assault on US diplomatic personnel by forces unknown, probably an organized terrorist group, and I just can't. Perhaps someone else can. I think it may be unprecedented. It sickens me to see people here attempting to make political hay out of this tragedy, but what Romney has done is beyond the pale, in my opinion, considering that he's one of two men that will be President for the next 4 years. I agree with you that the lack of US Marines, our traditional embassy security, is mystifying, but I fail to see where that could have been the fault of the President. My guess is that it was a failure at a low level of the State Department. We have a huge number of embassies and counsulates literally around the world. Maintaining security for all of them is a enormous task. Someone dropped the ball, clearly, particularly in a country like Libya, still recovering from a violent revolution. Measures will be taken to increase security at all our facilities in Libya and elsewhere, but one fact will remain. Being in the Foreign Service can be a dangerous occupation. That's just how the world is.
If only because Johnson, Humphrey and Adlai Stevenson didn't jump in until the convention, looks like 2008 was the best DNC primary in history. It's like Ditka and Ryan, they don't even have to talk to each other.
I really wanted to read what people had to say on this topic but after two pages of 'esteban is on your ignore list' and trannies I gave up.
Nowadays, I wait a week after a controversy to venture into the jungle of posts pages before. There's no redeeming value in those posts unless you like watching hungry little animals fighting over the tiniest slivers of uncorroborated information and somehow turning it into a bull**** buffet.
this is correct. You've got a lot of Obama supporters who believe this is some kind of us vs. them competitive game which takes priority over actually doing his job, which he's failing at miserably.
"For people who are running for president, this is a test where people evaluate their mettle as commander in chief, and the Romney campaign put out a statement before the facts were in that politicized the matter and gratuitously attacked the administration for something they did not do," "The decision to double down on the initial mistake has put them into a potentially very dangerous political situation. During a foreign policy crisis, you can't build a position on a foundation of politics. … The situation remains serious, it's volatile and Romney is appearing to be very political." Steve Schmidt, John McCain's 2008 campaign manager
Wrong again. There were still a few staff left in the Embassy at the time the statement was issued. Just give up this desperate attempt to rewrite the facts with a childish red marquee. It is embarrassing. The fact is your boy Mitt Romney was so eager to find anything to help close the gap between himself and President Obama that he jumped the gun and embarrassed himself and his party. In a way, it's good that incidents like this are happening before November. At least, even some of the most deluded of voters will start to realize how soulless and corrupt this man is and help keep him out of the White House.
This is a MAJOR STORY and the media is trying their best to protect Obama's failure. They know that this story is a stunning rebuke to the Obama/Hiillary foreign policy doctrine. It totally invalidates the successes that they had been trumpeting for over a year. Trader Jorge Another note of panic as the reality sinks in that his beloved Romney is falling behind.
