So I just caught up on this whole matter. Romney really f***ed up. I'm not surprised that rather than retract his statement and correct the record, he doubled down on his lie and attacks. That's just what his constituency wants him to do, and what he hopes independents won't take note of. The first true misstep of the campaign season (I.e. an undeniable mistake, not just having a quote taken out of context, 'you didnt build that') and its not as scandalous or embarrassing as it is downright ugly and sinister.

Sadly it shows Romney is probably even worse at foreign policy than he is at domestic policy. Romney doesn't have less foreign policy experience than Obama did, but he's shown he doesn't have the sense to handle foreign policy developments. The guy messed up, and lost his grip. I understand that in the heat of a campaign a candidate might feel it's important to insert himself in the big foreign policy development of the day and do so in a way that distinguishes himself from the president. But in this case he should realize that a U.S. embassy was attacked, and that's U.S. territory being attacked. Americans lost their lives, and in a time of tragedy political leaders should come together. That would have been the presidential thing to do. Instead Romney lost it, and did something foolish. In the end he looks like a complete fool with no idea on how to deal with anything foreign policy related. He screwed up big time.
North Africa is descending into chaos, an American Ambassador is dead and his dead body was humiliated in the streets, Obama's major foreign policy 'accomplishments' are totally reversed... and the liberal media is reporting on this story by talking about a manufactured, fake meme, "gaffe" by Romney? Good grief we live in an upside down world. This is a MAJOR STORY and the media is trying their best to protect Obama's failure. They know that this story is a stunning rebuke to the Obama/Hiillary foreign policy doctrine. It totally invalidates the successes that they had been trumpeting for over a year. Instead of focusing on this negative, less than two months before an election, the media is intensely focused on Mitt Romney. This is the height of media irresponsibility -- it truly is. Just when you think the media has hit a new low, they manage to top their previous mark. Unreal. And Obama sympathizers are so incredibly ignorant that they just eat it up like the uninformed, naive, entitled, mentally lazy people that they are.
