Samsung S3 has S-Voice I believe. Google also created Google Now, but it is only available on devices running Jelly Bean

Voice to text was on No-Do (first critical update from MS) for WP7, Android through 3rd party apps, and jailbroken phones before Siri came out. Question and answer based protocols of Siri are on WP7.5 in apps like Ask Ziggy. Siri was nothing new even when it was new...

    Yeah, "S-Voice" sucks.

IMO, it's Google Now , then Siri (though maybe this update could put it back on top for now), then somewhere way down the line...S-Voice

Google now is pretty legit. I use it everyday on my Nexus. Probably the best feature is it knowing when its time for me to go to work and it telling me the current traffic. Also noticed the other day while being real close to a movie theatre it offered me show times.

That is actually pretty cool. Now, does it randomly start talking to you or do you have to set it up for it to do that?

Err.. Android has had voice search for YEARS, long before Apple even thought about buying Siri from a startup company. The main difference is that Android voice search just showed you results instead of talking back to you.

Google Now is pretty cool. You travel to another time zone and it shows you the time back home, you travel to another country and it automatically shows you the currency exchange rate, you get to the airport and it shows you flight info, you go out for lunch and it tells you how many minutes it will take you to get back to work. All automatic.

Google Now doesn't talk back at all. I kinda like that about it. It will just give you notifications.

No, you simply tap on it and it shows you relevant information based on where you are and what it has learned about you. Then if you want to find something, you can say "Google" and talk to it.

The biggest reason why people stick with the iPhone is due to its simplicity. I work for a phone provider in Canada (a major one) and the constant complain I hear from customers is that how hard it is to get used to android devices. So many people fall into the hype that android >> apple and apple is teh evil, but when it all comes down to it, apple has made it easy for an idiot to pick up the iPhone and use it

I knew that Android had it, I just wasn't sure if it was a Google feature or a 3rd party one. I remember all those old T-Mobile ads where they used the voice features to find movies and ice cream places.

That is the main reason I enjoy my iPhone over any other kind of phone I've had/used.

I'm not an idiot haha, but the iPhone is hands down the most user-friendly phone on the market. You don't have to be technically inclined at all to pick it up and start using it, and I think that really appeals to a lot of people.

Of course, many will say that "Once you get used to it, the Android is just as easy!". The fact of the matter is, the iPhone doesn't take getting used to. It's about as user-friendly as it comes.

But when it comes down to it...I don't understand why people hate on the iPhone/Apple or why people hate on Android. People will always have their preferences, and there are plenty of great reasons why someone would like either company's devices.

    Sprint Vs. ATT Vs. Verizon

for 4 lines on a family plan. I'm thinking about Sprint, any reasons not to? LTE is live in Houston where I stay also.

This is exactly right. Techies assume that everyone's goal is the latest specs, but they miss the fact that everyone is not like them. Lots of people just want a phone that does basic things really well and really consistently. They don't need new OSes every few months. They don't need massive customization. They don't need a bunch of different designs.

For other people, they DO want those things. The great thing about the marketplace is there are different phones for different people. The whole Android vs. Apple hatred (both ways) is just so ridiculous - it assumes everyone is like you, which seems like the height of stupidity.

Who uses their phones to talk to people now days?

It is all about texting and data. Especially if you are at a bar you can't hear anything.
