Isn't an attack on an embassy the same as an attack on DC? American soil & all? I'd expect this to be met with swift action, but haven't heard or seen anything on the news yet.

It just smells like it is something more than some stupid video, especially happening on 9/11. Not sure if that date holds any credence with the ME as it does with us though.

Wrong. His official statement is as follows:

    [rquoter]
    OBAMA:

I strongly condemn the outrageous attack on our diplomatic facility in Benghazi, which took the lives of four Americans, including Ambassador Chris Stevens. Right now, the American people have the families of those we lost in our thoughts and prayers. They exemplified America's commitment to freedom, justice, and partnership with nations and people around the globe, and stand in stark contrast to those who callously took their lives.

I have directed my Administration to provide all necessary resources to support the security of our personnel in Libya, and to increase security at our diplomatic posts around the globe. While the United States rejects efforts to denigrate the religious beliefs of others, we must all unequivocally oppose the kind of senseless violence that took the lives of these public servants.

On a personal note, Chris was a courageous and exemplary representative of the United States. Throughout the Libyan revolution, he selflessly served our country and the Libyan people at our mission in Benghazi. As Ambassador in Tripoli, he has supported Libya's transition to democracy. His legacy will endure wherever human beings reach for liberty and justice. I am profoundly grateful for his service to my Administration, and
    deeply saddened by this loss.

The brave Americans we lost represent the extraordinary service and sacrifices that our civilians make every day around the globe. As we stand united with their families, let us now redouble our own efforts to carry their work forward. [/rquoter]

Libya is not in any way in the Middle East, if that's what you were implying.

I think his point wasn't to just highlight the flag-burning, but rather the totally overboard, mass hysteria this film evidently caused.

As long as USA are involved in wars around the world you will see things like this happen espacially in unstable countries like in this case Lybia.

Then they paraded the ambassador's dead corpse through the streets. These Islamists are truly the scum of the earth. You think that ambassador had a hand in producing whatever stupid movie you're all up in arms about? Seriously.

And of course Obama has blood on his hands in all this. His p***y-like actions that make our country appear weak embolden these fools. His snub of Israel yesterday certainly was a step in that direction, further encouraging these Islamic assholes.

You should be more of an American and support your President in these troubled times.

How does this make his asinine comment any better?

    Yes.

Now let's dissect propagandist Mathloom's statement:

In typical Mathloom fashion, trying to portray the USA as the source and instigator, while portraying the "outrage" in the Middle Eastern/Arab world as a mere reaction.

Trying to equate the criminal Islamist riots against embassies in the Middle East with some attention-seeking pastor burning a book. Nice try, but transparent.

Feigning ignorance. Picking something, making it seem smaller than it was, then asking "why is this even mentioned", as if there was no obvious connection.

Yes, it is, but it is not a "loss of life" like in an accident as Mathloom tries to make it seem by his choice of words, it was a murder committed by Islamists (who are ideologically somewhat close to Mathloom), for no reason whatsoever. That "film" isn't even really understandable, it's just some really bad layman actors talking nonsense, I couldn't even make out a message or anything. Yet, even something like that is enough to serve as a reason for these Islamists to murder people.

If the film's message was indeed to portray Islam/Islamists as violent - guess what...

Whoever made the movie knew some type of reaction would happen.

If a similar movie about Jesus was made, nobody would do anything? Killing is not the solution to anything but this movie was made only to rile people up. Everyone is in the wrong.

Actually, they make movies about how jesus wasn't a real person all the time. They have plenty of Documentaries about it, and I personally never seen Christians storm embassies and drag political leaders through the street all because a movie was made.

Bill Maher would of already been dead if that's the case. Try again.

Do you know how frequently Jesus is mocked in the United States? LOL

There are entire art genres designed around mocking Jesus and the Christian faith. People walk around and use the Lord's name in vain in general conversation with people they don't even know.

People on this very BBS routinely mock Christians.

No. If a similar movie about Jesus were made there would NOT be deaths and mob protests that followed. When Muslims actually kill Americans we STILL don't storm embassies and kill people.

Christians kill people for making a movie mocking Jesus?
