I thought your whole argument has been that only elite QB's can win a Super Bowl and Schaub therefore cannot.

I'm on board with him being somewhere in the 9-13 range.

But I think that's totally fine given our team to win a Super Bowl. Because, as you said, he's good...not great... and I add, also not bad at all.

Somewhere along the way, you started attacking and going with superlatives and saying only elite QB's could win Super Bowls.

So yes, again here...you're contradicting your own argument by saying Schaub can be an important part of our Super Bowl run. But if this new statement is your real stance and your previous statement was just exaggeration for the sake of exaggeration, then I guess we're in agreement

ubigred.... stop the hate. Stop the exaggeration to prove your point! Listen to what everyone is saying ... Schaub is a good QB, very much capable of winning the Super Bowl. It's that simple! Enough is Enough.

he's all over the place. in this thread he agrees that Schaub is good enough to get us where we want to go, i.e. win the Super Bowl, but in another he says Schaub isn't good enough.

I agree with that. I've always said that. He is good not great.

It is not hate , because I have a different opinion/perspective.

    ^^^ vs my perspective.

He is good , not great.

How can anyone say he is elite?

You have said he is not elite and therefore has to have one of the greatest defenses of all time to win. Then you have later said he is not elite and can still get this team to the Super Bowl.

So I think you're hinging on "our defense must be one of the greatest of all time to win the Super Bowl".

Whereas I say it doesn't come down to "if not elite, then must have best defense ever". I think Schaub is better than your Brad Johnson of late career TB stage, Arian/Tate is better than their running game, and therefore you're incorrect.

Please stop using logic and coherent well-stated opinion in this thread....

Chris Berman has never labeled Schaub with the almighty elite status, therefore you are wrong.

    Quote me accurately.

I said Schaub will not LEAD the Texans to the Super Bowl ala Brady or Rodgers. However, he can be an important piece of the whole puzzle.

What is so wrong with the above statement that posters direct insults towards me and respond to me with so much vitriol?

This thread has officially entered the DaDa zone. Seriously, QBs who don't suck get paid. End of story. Non issue.

Matt Schaub is a LEADER of the Houston Texans football team. If the Texans get to the Super Bowl, Matt Schaub will have been instrumental in LEADING them there. If the Texans WIN the Super Bowl, the person with the best chance of the Super Bowl MVP (tied with Foster) is?

When Matt Schaub became the starter of this football team, the Texans PPG went up by 7, instantly. That is not some metric I pulled out of my butt, look it up for yourself.

Let's get back on topic here.

Has anybody given even one legitimate reason why this contract was a bad idea?

$24.75 million guaranteed, $62 million overall.

It's a very low amount of guaranteed money (most top 15 QBs get somewhere around 30 million guaranteed)

$15.5 million per year makes him the 5th highest paid QB in the league. But he will be quickly bumped down into the 8-10 range after Romo, Flacco, and Cutler sign their deals.

It wasn't. Does anyone actually think if Schaub became a free agent he wouldn't be getting the same money from, oh I don't know...

Buffalo, Oakland, Kansas City, NY Jets, Tampa Bay, Arizona?

Schaub may have a noodle arm but he makes better decisions than rocket arms like Cutler and Rivers. Also his play action is the best in the league...by far. Watch other quarterbacks do it and it's laughable compared to Schaub.
