Just wanted to get past the pink elephant in the room. I assume the median for non ghetto children is somewhere around 1250?
97th percentile verbal, 49th percentile math. For the GRE, I moved verbal up to the 99th percentile and math up to the 58th. Also hit the 99th percentile on my GRE Subject Test. If it weren't for math and my stupid decision to take German instead of something easier, I would have been a decent student.
The SAT used to not have a writing section so it was out of 1600 points (800 in math, 800 in verbal) For example, I took the SAT before the writing section was added to it so I always think about it in terms of 1600. I think in terms of this poll, I guess it means just adding your math and verbal.
1240 I fell asleep during it. 670 Math 570 Verbal It was my 2nd time, but the 1st time I was in 7th grade.
690 math (Second time, 590 first try. Should have reviewed more for the first go around.) 740 reading (First time) 800 writing (Second time, 730 first time)
I took it the first year of the writing and every college I applied to asked me not to send in the writing score I got a 1250/1600
Well the writing section really screwed me over (I hate having to write off the cuff...). Ok, I get it now, 1600 = math + reading/verbal
I was like a 700 on math and 530 in verbal or something. Screw verbal. I spend a total of 0 minutes preparing for the SAT, too, and only took it once because I'm lazy.
Do you think it was an accurate measure of your aptitude and critical thinking ability, rather than hard work and regurgitation? Moreso than organized school work?
I took it in high school, and I don't remember my score. I remember the assistant principal accusing me of cheating because, he said, it was impossible that I would have scored in the top tenth of one percent for the state. I had bad grades (and poor behavior) otherwise, but I had a bet with a friend that I could score higher than he did. Then they made me retake it, but I got expelled (for something else) before I got the results. I have my GRE scores around here somewhere.
I too spent nothing preparing and only took it once. I always assumed I was going to college, but there was nobody to really tell me how to do it. I think everyone assumed I already knew what I was supposed to do. I ended up taking it only because my friends took it. By contrast, for the GRE, I studied fractions the night before.
I took the ACT and got a 31 which was 98th percentile. 98th percentile for SAT is around 1450 so that's what I put.
I remember I got a 1460 which I believe was 95% or something close to that. According to this poll 50% of clutch fans is in the top 7-8% of test takers. I guess clutchfans is filed with a bunch of eggheads.
