Apparently it doesn't matter because they didn't actually win. So the difference in those games--even if they were single plays--came down to which team had the elite QB and nothing else Billy Cundiff's missed FG was nothing more than Tom Brady being elite
And then, apparently, Brady's eliteness wore off in the Super Bowl....or was Eli just more elite on that day? Damn eliteness......you never know when it is going to let you down.
Of all the QBs you named ONLY Eli Manning has averaged over 7 yards per pass in the super bowl. The most TD passes thrown by any of those QBs in one game is 3 (only Aaron Rodgers and Tom Brady once). The average stats of all the QBs in the past 5 or so Super Bowls is about 285 yards, 2 TDs. Ben Rothlisberger - 5 INTs in 3 Super Bowls. Had a GREAT defense and Willie Parker breaking off 75 yards runs. I think Matt Schaub is perfectly capable of putting up these kind of numbers, don't you?
NFL MVP Rich Gannon? 4 Time all pro QB Rich Gannon? 3x AFC player of the year Rich Gannon? That's the Rich Gannon that people would say was a not so good QB that won the superbowl?
The post I replied too, just threw Matt Schaub into the Super Bowl as if the regular season and playoffs are not hurdles before it. He tried to diminish Big Ben and elevate Schaub. Put Schaub on the Steelers and I bet you they do not make the playoffs. Schaub's inablity to maneuver in the pocket , coupled with one of the worst offensive lines in football equals disaster. Schaub to Mike Wallace on a deep pattern? Oh.
Is this your schtick? Matt Schaub basher in the Texans subforum of a basketball messageboard? That's big-timer bro congrats
I pointed out on the last page that non-elite QBs can get to the Super Bowl (well you did that), and that anyone can win one game. You said no, only elite QB's can actually win that one game But now someone points out that elite QB's didn't perform well in that one game. But you're saying all the other games matter so forget that one game. Your logic doesn't flow from one argument to another
you didn't reply to the Alex Smith vs. Joe Flacco possibility last year. Unless your answer is "but it didn't happen"...even though Billy Cundiff prevented it from happening, not Flacco. Either way, not a valid argument
My logic flows quite well. I can not be held accountable for the interpretations of other posters. Matt Schaub is good , not great. That has always been my stance. He will have his opportunities to be great against: Denver Chi Det GB NE Bal NJ That is my scale. Meanwhile , some of you will put him in the Top 3 QBs because of what he does against the Dolphins and Colts. Sigh.
Classic exagerration to dismiss our intellect. Nobody thinks Schaub is a top 3 QB. He's 10ish...Romo Level if you ask me and more than capable of being a SB quarterback with the type of weapons on offense and elite defense Houston has.
I don't deal in "ifs". IF Matt Schaub had a big arm IF Matt Schaub had an ounce of pocket presence IF Matt Schaub had the ability to audible IF Matt Schaub could throw into tight windows IF Matt Schaub could stay healthy IF IF IF He would be great, not good.
OK I exaggerated on the Top 3. However, there are indeed posters who believe Matt Schaub is a top 5 QB. I agree with your second part (although I have at 11+) . He can be an important part of our Super Bowl run. Lead ala Rodgers, Brady? No. As for Romo, he is a better quarterback than Schaub. However, the Texans are the better team. PS: Sammy, thank you for the mature reply. I am not here to troll.
AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH good one. You are a martyr now too?? I'm sure you are a big time Texans fan also, just pointing out all these faults to these homers am I rite???
