yeah no bounds of decency like using blood of 9/11 to fight a false war?Let's talk about decency for a second. The fact you would use 'decency' and todays date in the same sentence makes me want to throw up. It's okay I have been dry heaving on your pestilence for years now. no class.

Which false war was supported by "blood of 9/11" (sic)?

Leave it to the liberals to use this historic date to piss all over the troops and 9/11 victims

Oksam, assume for a moment (i don't, the article, is complete bull****, and you and yours are vile, nasty, obscene human beings) that every thing in the article is true....

...what then? You're the president, yiu get thos briefings, hell, the CIAbrings you bin laden and sits him down in the oval office and he tells you to your face that teams of terrorists are in the US preparing to attack WITH PLANES.

    What do you do?

I'm always blown away by this type of reaction from posters that I consider intelligent and reasonable. Of course, this is completely relevant now and much more than interesting history. This country has a very short memory, and has not yet come close to fully absorbing what a complete ****show the Bush administration made of national security and foreign policy. If we had, then the neocon advisers that provided the intellectual foundation for Bush's disasters would be exiled from the public sphere in disgrace, instead of (as Sam points out) advising Romney. Make no mistake, if Romney actually gets elected his foreign policy will be an extension of the worst of Bush's, only the theater will be Iran and the consequences will be much more grave. Any new information that casts more light on Bush's debacle is incredibly valuable.

I'm still waiting for the connection between 9/11 and iraq... tick tock it's only been what like a decade? I will be over here waiting. You clearly have no shame.

you are an accomplice to war crimes. I consider you a war criminal. Lucky for you this isnt 1790s france or your head would be on the chopping block long time ago.

    Thx for the meltdown :)

For some reason questioning the national security team that was responsible for the greatest national security failure in history (then doubled down with the disaster in Iraq and a real clusterf-ck in Afghanistan) always elicits a visceral holier-than-thou response from you about what bad people we all are.

This outbreak of decorum come from some douche who spends his life race-trolling black strangers on a basketball message board. Bizarre. Though of course he's not alone in this affinity (looking at you...batexxx...)

I'd say "hey CIA/NSA/DoD/FBI/whatever, maybe we should stop planning for war in Iraq and shooting down Soviet Missiles" and go on high alert, who knows, you might catch somebody like they did in 2000 with the LAX Millennium Bombing plot. Seriously there ARE things that a national security apparatus can do about this kind of thing.

Would it have worked? Who knows...what we do know is that nobody in the Bush Administration really even bothered to try... as they had other priorities.

    And that's a real shame. :(

might want to check your facts brah. Your post indicates a lack of knowledge, but a general desire to hurl insults and rage at your political opponents. I guess that's what happens when your incompetent president leads us to the economic depths we now live in.

9/11 was justification for the Afghanistan war

and don't forget Congress approved military force against Iraq

If only Bush had spent less time clearing brush and more time handling his business we would not have suffered the biggest disaster in American history, two disastrous wars, and the worst economic collapse since the great depression. Bush's lack of leadership was appalling and the country is still suffering for it.

The article should have been published after, not before, this day. Today was not the day for these discussions, in my mind, but the paper opened that can by not waiting until tomorrow to publish this. That said, I don't think anyone reacting to, or discussing the new details revealed is trying to be disrespectful or desecrate anything or anyone, and I think to say so is disrespectful.

Bad choice by the NYT, imo, but the rest is business as usual for these parts, I think.

I find it amusing how the frequency and irrationality of posts by basso and bigflexx increases in direct proportion to their frustration with reality.

These last few days have been entertaining. Cognitive dissonance is a b****.

I especially like bigflexx's recent trend to tell everyone to "shut up."

Please, you are an idiot. NYT is far more fair and balanced than your extremist brainwashing information sources.

You are a fool who doesn't realize what's going on. A total fool. America is weaker because of people like you.

It's not the liberals doing the pissing, it's you and your type. As a newyorker and someone who lost friends, I find you totally disgusting and it makes me sick that you can talk about pissing on troops and victims when in reality you are the one who uses their deaths and lives to support going to war and acheiving your objectives.

It's a level of cynicism that is utterly grotesque and shameful. YOu really should be ashamed man.

Stop focusing on Iraq and actually listen to people for once?

Clinton spend enormous effort on trying to let Bush know how big of a threat bin laden was. The CIA tried really hard.

But those neocons wanted Iraq from day one. That foolery contributed to this tragic day. Bush screwed up.

Why did Bush ignore all of this? Don't you wonder at all???????

What makes you think it'll take a day to do what three years didn't? Asking a modern-day Republican to find a soul is like asking a person with no sense of smell to stop and smell the roses.

Close, brah, but you should also know your facts. Congress, mostly republicans, authorized the President to use the military if necessary to preemptively invade someone who was a threat to our national security.

Instead of invading those complicit in 911 (Afghanistan), the President instead invaded Iraq. Some would say we had "faulty intelligence" in the White House at the time.
