When I said man handled, I was really just referring to the offense. Their defense was the only defense that stopped us all year and they did it by being super physical. And we didn't really have an answer for that. That's all I meant. Our defense played great, but NSU turned it into a physical defensive game and that wasn't our style.

Anyway, I'm trying to get tickets to the SHSU/TSU game in the soccer stadium but Sam's website doesn't have a direct link for that game. Is there a certain area of the stadium all the Sam people will be sitting? Any way I can get some tickets through our people instead of via the stadium website?

I tried to buy tickets online on Saturday but stopped because I didn't know which was the visitor's side. Only info I could find on the game through SHSU:

    ::EDIT::

Called that number and asked which side was for SHSU fans. The ticket person had no idea. So I called the BBVA Compass Stadium's ticket office and asked which side SHSU would be on and she side SHSU would be in 225, 226, and 227. That is the purple area below. I assume that means SHSU will also be in the green area beneath that, but who knows. I bought some seats in section 226 just to be safe.

This doesn't sound like you were just talking about the offense, had you been specific to the offense then I might not have even responded. Although, my main disagreement was the last sentence in this quote about the score and how close the game actually was, so I might still have.

You only showed the last two sentences of this qoute in your response making it seem as if I agreed with the whole team being man handled. Just want to make it clear that the "they" in sentence two refers to the offense, not the whole team or specifically the defense. I know how Obama feels now with the whole "you didn't build it" soundbyte. You Romney'd up my quote bro!

I missed out on the TSU-PV game, but I'm hoping to attend some games this season. Anxious to check out the BBVA stadium as well as see the 'Ocean of Soul' in all their glory. Got a taste in orientation, but definitely want to see them live.

Hoping to see the Tigers do well this season.

Great! Glad I caught your edit. I called the ticket office over the weekend and the guy had NO IDEA what I was talking about...

Tried to rep you, but I have to spread it around more.

LOVE the Ocean of Soul. I haven't seen them since the mid 90's. I played in the SHSU drumline and TSU's band would occasionally come with the team to Huntsville. I've never felt so 'white' as the times we had to follow them up at halftime. ;) Always looked forward to seeing them.

Since there's been an issue with acronyms for the various TSU's in Texas, can we start calling Texas Southern the Stu's?

So both big Colorado schools lost to FCS teams over the weekend? I assume Sacramento State isn't FBS.

Seems to be happening more and more lately. It's getting to the point where the good FCS schools can actually hang with - and occasionally beat - the average FBS schools.

I hope that trend continues this Saturday in Waco. :)

Don't know if Baylor should be considered average, but I think we have a pretty decent shot at beating them.

My cousin played for them back in the mid 90's as a corner-back, they called him the fastest white boy in Georgia. After college he was asked to training camp with the Jets, his first year he had chicken pox for the first time in his life during camp and had to sit it out. The next year he got called back to camp and on the first practice they had he broke his arm. He never played football again.

No, not suggesting that at all. They are a top 30 team for sure.

They will probably roll us, but you never know. Under different circumstances, we might have a shot. But they didn't play last week and they've had 2 weeks to prepare for us.

I just hope we make a game of it for a few quarters. And stay healthy....

This week's poll is out. Sam Houston moved down to #3.

Montana State moved ahead of us, even though all they did was struggle to beat SFA at home while we actually hung with Baylor on the road for 3 quarters.

No problem with North Dakota State being #1. They're still the champions, after all.

Sam Houston loses to #21 UCA 24-20 on the road. Almost had a last minute drive to win the game, but couldn't seal the deal (2 last second passes into the end zone missed).

I'll be at the TSU game in Houston this next week. Hopefully the Kats can rebound. The Southland Conference is looking strong this year though.

That hurts. I'm sure the rest of the Southland is going to get up a little extra for SHSU with the season that they had last year and the predictions for this year. I still expect Sam to win the conference and go far in the playoffs...

McNeese (who was 3-0 before this week and looking pretty good) also lost this week. The conference is getting pretty interesting. It was probably a little too much to ask them to go undefeated in the conference again.

I was able to watch the game. Sam's pass defense is not impressive. They never seem to have anyone more than 10 yards off the line of scrimmage and always play single coverage on the opposing team's best WRs. And this scheme and the refusal to make adjustments is what cost Sam the game.

When UCA (who, btw, has the ugliest field in the history of sports) got the ball towards the end, I just knew they would score quickly by throwing the ball deep against our single coverage until they connected. And that they did.

I'll be at the game this Thursday, but I won't be surprised when Texas Southern connects on multiple long passes down field. I just hope we can hang on to win it.

It's a close second to this one...

Lindenwood University (Ill). I quoted the turf on both fields. I'm not entirely disappointed I didn't get either job.

    My Saturday went like this.

    • Watch Sam Houston game on TV
    • Up by 10 with 5 minutes left, leave for gig comfortable in the belief that the game was over and we had just won the toughest conference game of the year. On the road, no less.
    • Arrive at gig
    • Check final score on phone
    • PUKE
I guess the road back to the NC game is going to be a little tougher than it was last year.

See everyone at BBVA on Thursday night!

They've been pretty poor at making adjustments, on both offense and defense.

Flanders got 90 of his 125 yards in the first quarter and they basically stopped going to him. Then, with about 3 minutes left, up by 3, all they need is a few first downs to ice the game and he didn't see the ball once. Mind boggling.

Hopefully they find their team chemistry by Thursday. Its a short week for them to get ready and go on the road, again. They don't get a true home game until October 20th at McNeese (at Reliant VS SFA is considered to be a home game for them this year, but that crowd will be an even split).
