ima, the broncos looked good. it's only one game but they are balanced on both sides of the ball. they are gonna sack a lot of people. they are gonna beat a lot of people. are you suggesting that schaub is a better scrambler than big ben

Are you suggesting we shouldn't have extended Schaub because he's not as good of a scrambler as Big Ben in his prime? Probably not, but I just get tired of this good vs. elite argument.

Schaub is the best (realistic) option at QB for the Texans. I have no problem with the Texans extending him. I'll just leave it at that. :)

If somebody throws for 300 yards on nothing but screen passes, it's not quite as impressive. His point is legitimate.

Call me when we're having a discussion about someone who threw for 300 yards on nothing but screen passes.

If you watched the play, it was Manning's call to make that quick throw because he saw how the defense was lined up and knew it would be a huge play.

His point was legitimate (Peyton did well, but numbers can be misleading), I wasn't suggesting Peyton threw nothing but screens, merely pointing out how not all QB performances are equal.

Right. No one is saying otherwise. But a play like that is generally not as impressive as, say, a 70+ yard drive made up of several difficult completions (something Peyton of old was known to do). "Not as impressive" does not mean "he deserves no credit". Peyton was effective and efficient last night, but he didn't look quite as good as his stat line might lead you to believe. I'd say that's a fair point.

Im still waiting to hear what the Texans' alternatives are at QB had they not resigned Schaub.

Thanks, I'll hang up and listen.

    Joe Flacco or TJ Yates.

That's about it. And Flacco probably won't even make it to the market by the end of the year, anyway.

yep. I think people usually have some terrible logic in their head like "we could draft someone in the 1st or 2nd round" and assume for some reason that a good rookie is a feasible alternative for a Super Bowl bound team with a tight window

But Schaub was going against a top 5 defense in the Dolphins

Just stop trying to down play Manning performance. He's doing great and so is Matt. Manning did it against the Steelers and Schaub did it against a garbage Dolphins team with the help of 3 straight turnovers.

And I'm agreeing with him. I just didn't want to single out any of the 3 posts that tried take act like we just beat a GOOD team.

We were expected to win and win BIG so there's nothing to celebrate...I forgot, we're not used to this feeling.

    LOL.

"Stop trying to downplay Manning's performance....and indulge me while I downplay Schaub's."

Err, who said Miami was good? Who is celebrating? Is this in a different thread?

What the hell are we arguing about anyway? Schaub isn't as good as Tom Brady/Peyton Manning? Oookay!

Didn't I just say he played great? Hell look in the beginning and read my earlier posts. It wasn't a backhanded compliment its just a fact that both guys played great while one played against a good team.

I don't even know how Manning got in this thread but whatever.

You're right bro, they should just release Schaub. I mean, if he's not Peyton Manning he's nobody right?

See folks! That is an honest of Schaub right there.

    He is good, not great.

no, i think it's fine we extended him. not sure why it couldn't have waited until after the season, though. i too am tired of the good vs. elite argument. i have said that i believe he is good enough to take us to the promised land. however, i don't think he is elite. not hating, just throwing out an opinion on an opinion board. my problem is with kubes. he or injuries are the only thing in our way.

    edit:
forgot the damn smiley again, aaaargh

Yea , same thing happens when I ask what Schaub doesn't do well.

    Funny actually.

I also find it humorous , how everyone would come to Schaub's defense during the 09 season and scream BUT THEY HAD A HORRIBLE DEFENSE!!

I said QB's just have to get it done.

Low and behold the 2011 NFL season. The 2 worst defenses in the league: Exhibit A. 15-1 Packers Exhibit B. Super Bowl contending Patriots

PS: Plus both teams had non-existent running games. Oh.
