I can tell why you're upset -- Romney just took away the cheap talking points the dims have been trumpeting around some of the non-controversial aspects of Obamacare. The left has been milking those for all they're worth.

    Very smart move by Romney.

That's not quite true. Now during the course of his campaign he may have evolved from "repealing" to "repeal and replace". But he is on record in many occasions saying that the first thing he would do in office is repeal Obamacare. Remember one of the first primary debates where every candidate raised their hand on the question of repealing Obamacare? And you know the base has been adamant about a full repeal. Romney sees the polls and numbers and he sees how the law is polling favorably so he is shifting his position.

As I said, the crazies will not like this at all.

Oh silly man I am far from upset!

I'm sure tomorrow we'll hear something different from Romney on how he stands on the issue

He came up with obamacare before obama so him to fight it would have been kind of dumb.

Romney's partner to the MA health care plan (and Obama to his) was Ted Kennedy.

    Oops!

There were many, but the obvious one would be Glass-Steagal, repealed by a Democratic President and a Republican House & Senate in the late 1990's.

This is the obvious one I was thinking of also. However, did repealing Glass-Steagal have anything to do with the growth in size of the investment banks that had no commercial banking activities (Lehman, Bear, Goldman)?

Obama Picked Up By Scott Van Duzer, Florida (small business) Pizza Place Owner

"Everybody look at these guns," [Obama] he said. "If I eat your pizza will I look like that?"

Van Duzer, by the way, is a registered Republican who voted for Obama in 2008 and says he will do so again in November.

"I don't vote party line, I vote who I feel comfortable with, and I do feel extremely comfortable with him," he told the press pool.

Eliana, I reached out to the Romney campaign for clarification about Mitt Romney’s remarks this morning about liking some parts of Obamacare. An aide pointed out that Romney first said on Meet the Press that “I say we are going to replace Obamacare. And I am replacing it with my own plan.”

In reference to how Romney would deal with those with preexisting conditions and young adults who want to remain on their parents’ plans, a Romney aide responded that there had been no change in Romney’s position and that “in a competitive environment, the marketplace will make available plans that include coverage for what there is demand for. He was not proposing a federal mandate to require insurance plans to offer those particular features.”*

It created customers that bought the derivatives that they were moving. Even if they weren't directly affected, Glass-Steagal created other banks that were too big to fail.

Moreover, the Commodities Futures Modernization Act of 2000 basically gutted any regulation of derivatives. In addition, both the Fed and the SEC basically chose not to review and regulate derivatives. You had a systemic effort by both the Fed and SEC to issue exemptions to basic rules and oversight for decades which in turn created bloated banks that blew up.

You can't tell me that banks can somehow manage and regulate themselves. They proved to be greedy and incompetent and the result was the greatest economic failure since the 30s.

That makes no sense at all. The insurance industry clearly stated they couldn't provide those type of benefits without an insurance mandate. If they could wouldn't insurance plans already provide such benefits prior to ACA? Further Romney himself recognized this problem in Mass which was why Mass' law has the mandate in it.

Exactly, Mitt is talking out of both sides of his ass again.

Trying to attract swing voters in the morning, then have his lackey feed opposite info and tripe about free marker in the afternoon to conservative websites in order to appease stupids like bigtexxx.

Here comes clarification on Mitt's clarification:

A Romney campaign aide sends a statement to BuzzFeed stating that Romney “will ensure that discrimination against individuals with pre-existing conditions who maintain continuous coverage is prohibited.” This does not mean he supports the protections in Obamacare and would leave millions uninsured.
