No. I can answer it. I've watched enough basketball that I already know the answer. He cannot defend the Dwights, the Bynums, the Boguts, the Gasols, the Cousins of the NBA. He is not a center. Never will be.

No, he is not a center now, but he can be with a little added strength and experience.

Yeah, Jeremy Lin could be a small forward if you put him on the stretching machine for a couple years too.

    Ifs, ands, and buts......

Is it not a natural process for players to bulk up during careers? He is already 3lbs lighter than our current starting 5.
Also, let me again remind of how Mr. McHale played Scola at the 5 way more than he should have. He would greater success with Jones.

Making a J. Lin/sf comparison to argue that a young man, who is already Hakeem's size and is larger than Joakim Noah, is not a good argument. You seem smart. I believe that you can do better

Addendum.. insert "cannot play center" before "is not a good argument."

Size does not equate to position.

its pretty obvious that Lin cant play SF and Parsons cant play the PG those were ridiculous analogies you made earlier. T Jones playing the 5 is not far fetched, he is a 250 pound ROOKIE. He is only going to get better, bigger, and stronger so why no put him at the 5 and let him learn the position. The Rockets have nothing to lose in this case. He is way bigger and more physical than Odom so lets all stop saying he is a 3/4....dude can play center. Theyre arent any bigs in the league anyway that have an arsenal of moves down low on the block anyway. Yao was the last of a dying breed, so defense should be no problem.
I saw a highlight reel of D Cousins scoring 41 points this morning, most of his points were jump shots. RIP The Big Man

Maybe in our small ball lineup he could be the 5 (if Scola could), but even with that lineup, we have DMo who can stretch the floor better as a small 5. So placing Terrence Jones there is even a stretch. But NEVER in a normal lineup.

If you have a fetish for comparing Terrence Jones as a "poor man's" star, compare him to a big 3 or 4. I prefer a big 3; that is my opinion. But not as a Center...
