I feel like Kobe is underrated here. My vote depends on whether this is fat Sabonis or healthy mobile Sabonis.
Sabonis and Rodman can do a decent job on Hakeem and McHale. Steve Nash + Bob Petit are gonna destroy the other teams bench. In terms of impact Petit is like a top 25 player of all time haha. 123 has great backcourt defense. I think 123's backcourt advantage cancels RedNation's frontcourt advantage. I like 123's bench better so he gets my vote. 123rockets
I don't remember the last time VBG voted for an all time draft team of mine. That's cool though.
FC Red Sabonis was probably as big if not bigger talent as Hakeem in his early 20s, but facing a prime Hakeem would be too much for Sabonis in his early 30s. He'd play Hakeem tough and wouldn't give up space and might even win the rebounding battle. But in terms of overall impact offensively and defensively, it wouldn't be close. On top of it, McHale wouldn't have to worry much defensively and could double Sabonis, if not outright defend him at times while Hakeem roams around. BC 123 Absurd athleticism + defense + very solid spacing and overall offensive skillsets Red has a great backcourt, but it's hard to top 123 here. Offense Red. Close. Love the idea of Sabonis pulling Hakeem away from the basket and letting Kobe/Payton or Worthy just beast athletically. A lot of passing, solid spacing. Transition with "smalls" will be awesome. It's hard to play 4 on 5, though. Especially when RedN has a very good, balanced offensive team. Defense Red Both teams very good defensively, but Red has size advantage in the back and mobility advantage upfront. Bench 123 I think 123 has more talent and more versatility / unique skillsets on his bench. Chemistry Even. Don't see an issue with either team. Overall: Red wins, but series would be very close.
actually i got confused and thought that Red had Kobe/Payton when I wrote this.... so it should really be even on defense. Which makes it even closer. But I think Red still wins, by a hair.
RedN with better shooting and spacing in the starting unit, goin by NBA prime. McHale+Hakeem would dominate Rodman+Sabonis and he also has great guys in Isiah, Dumars, Barry. Close series, but RedN wins.
FC: RedNation... Bc: 123Rockets Off: RedNation Def: 123Rockets Bench: RedNation...just. Chem: RedNation RedNation...very close, But Sabonis vs Dream? I have also learnt by experience that Pettit is POISON!
How is Petit poison? He was THE most efficient player of his era AND the best scorer. He should be like a top 30 player of all time.
