About to buy a new house and am thinking about switching to Usaa. I've been a state farm customer forever for house, car etc but they can be weasels and I just read they are raising their home premiums 20% How do you guys like USAA?
If you're in Houston I can refer you to some pretty good folks with Texas Direct, Farmers, or State Farm.
USAA is awesome. I've had them for insurance since I was driving and have moved most of my investments and banking to them as well. They're easy to work with, and I've never had any issues when filing claims.
Don't you have to have a military connection (you or family member) to sign up for USAA? I've heard great things about them as far as rates and service.
I do, but every time I've gone to them for quotes on the cars, home, recreational vehicles they're always higher.
I'd suggest Texas Farm Bureau. Prices won't be beat, especially if you live outside of Harris county.
Just read about state farm on the statesman.com Unfortunately I can't get usaa. I thought my wife's brother would be a good enough link
USAA is good & great in claims, but their property rates are as high as state farm's. They're not even writing in Ft. Bend any more. Anybody can call them up now and get a quote, they're not exclusive like they were. If you've got great credit, I've got the companies writing the best rates at the moment.
Yes, either or you or someone from whom you are a direct descendant or marry another member. In my case, my father was in the navy so he's got USAA and passed that onto to me and all of my siblings. My wife got her own account number when we got married.
Have auto and home insurance with them. Very satisfied. However, they are much less competitive on rates for home and auto loans than they should be.
Did you call or do the online quote? I found out calling them is a lot better. My initial quote was around 650+ per vehicle. After I called them I got it down to less than $500 per.
I saved a bunch on my car insurance switching to USAA from Geico. Homeowners is probably overpriced, but I've also made 2 claims in the 4.5 years I've had it. You also have to add that USAA pays their members a dividend based on how much they actually end up paying out compared to what they make. If you ever have a claim, USAA is amazing.
You might want to tell your State Farm agent that you got quotes from USAA and are planning to switch. State Farm might match the USAA quotes.
