If Obama and the DNC can provide a good night tonight, I think the Democrats are going to receive a huge bump because the jobs report due on Friday looks like it may beat expectations which would be an excellent 4th day for them as well, of course we'll have to wait and see the real report. http://money.cnn.com/2012/09/06/news/economy/adp-jobless-claims/index.html?hpt=hp_t1 NEW YORK (CNNMoney) -- Things could be looking up for the job market. Paycheck processing firm ADP said private companies added 201,000 jobs last month, up from 173,000 in July That was much better than the 143,000 jobs economists surveyed by Briefing.com were expecting. The economy generally needs to add around 150,000 jobs per month just to keep up with the growing population. Anything above that chips away at the unemployment rate -- likely a key metric in determining which candidate will win the presidential race.
AMENDMENT XXII Passed by Congress March 21, 1947. Ratified February 27, 1951. Section 1. No person shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice, and no person who has held the office of President, or acted as President, for more than two years of a term to which some other person was elected President shall be elected to the office of President more than once. But this Article shall not apply to any person holding the office of President when this Article was proposed by Congress, and shall not prevent any person who may be holding the office of President, or acting as President, during the term within which this Article becomes operative from holding the office of President or acting as President during the remainder of such term. Section 2. This article shall be inoperative unless it shall have been ratified as an amendment to the Constitution by the legislatures of three-fourths of the several States within seven years from the date of its submission to the States by the Congress. Section 3. This article shall be amended to make an exception for William Jefferson Clinton if he ever wants to be president again.
He also inherited a recession. Job losses were just starting as he was taking office. As for the graphic, wouldn't it be great if we lived in a world where only the top tax bracket had any influence on job growth. We could set it at 45% and every adult in America would have a job!
Yes and I'd be more than happy to talk about Bush's record in office. It was really quite incredible the damage caused to this country under his terms in office.
No arguments there. I think Bush was the worst president of my lifetime (which dates back to Reagan). However, I also think Clinton gets an unfair free pass on his role in causing the financial crisis (through deregulation and housing policy).
I find it curious that since 1988, only three presidential candidates had early years that were anything but an advantage: Clinton, Dole, and Obama. Everyone else has either been the son of a wealthy politician or, in Kerry's case, had a lot of wealthy relatives. No real point to be made. Just interesting that, in my view, the two best politicians came from the first group.
As they always will. For all the Romney-Bush style talk about 'self-made men', neither one of them would have been more than a manager at Kroger if they had to make themselves. God bless the American monarchy.
Ouch. <object width="560" height="315"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/GRN9Y5Nvdqk?version=3&hl=en_US&rel=0"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/GRN9Y5Nvdqk?version=3&hl=en_US&rel=0" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="560" height="315" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true"></embed></object>
why ouch? I thought Romney handled that situation perfectly. It's just different views on a topic. A topic I personally don't find all that important to me.
So we are equating the top income tax bracket as the reason for the recession? Has nothing to do with deregulation from wall st lobbying efforts signed in during the moonlight hours of Bush I & Clinton's terms? Wow. Wall St & the corporate plutocracy has won and shifted the blame entirely to income earners making 250k. A more appropriate figure and arguable tax figure related to individuals would be capital gains tax rate in that graphic. Great stat though.
"Since she’s secretary of state, federal statute and the State Department’s ethical guidelines prohibit Clinton from participating in political activities such as a party convention. “ Wow, can you BE any dumber?? HO HO HO HO HO HO, CONPISSTADOR!!!!

Recalibrate the haterade. Totally different pedigrees. Romney took a year at Stanford before BYU and later went onto Harvard grad for a newly minted JD/MBA combo degree. His rise at Bain and Co wasn't from his daddy's connections, and more from his sharp intelligence and his workaholic tendencies. With that Harvard degree, he could've managed Kroger... the entire chain. From his exploits running Bain Capital, it'd be a good chance at success. As a managerial dud, Bush doubled down on folksiness and straight shootery. Romneys personal deficiencies are well documented, but his family name isn't one if them. The only negative I can see from it is his strong assumption that one can borrow from mommy or daddy, a luxury not everyone has.
