As a self described moderate who never voted for him, I still get drawn in by him. He just has a gift for being relatable. He's probably the best speaker of his generation.

As always seems to be the case with these "fact checks" (including the ones of the Paul Ryan speech), there was not a single fact check in there. Nothing in that article takes on a factual assertion in Clinton's address and determines the truth of the statement. It's all editorializing under the guise of unbiased authority.

Paul Ryan should know better than to give Slick Willie a loaded gun. But he does that merely by existing.

    from TP --

During its fact-check of this claim, the AP article had to ignore the Romney campaign’s dishonest attack on Obama’s welfare work requirements, which even Republican governors have questioned. It also fails to consider the campaign’s habit of deliberately editing Obama out of context, as they did in Romney’s first ad, which attributed the line, “If we talk about the economy, we’re going to lose,” to Obama when he was actually mimicking the McCain campaign in 2008. Also missing is the fact that the Republican National Convention last week was based on a distortion of Obama’s “you didn’t build that” quote. ThinkProgress has compiled a comprehensive catalog of Romney’s lies on virtually every issue he’s had to discuss.

Rather than attempt to debunk Clinton’s attack on the campaign’s dishonesty, the AP could only imply that Clinton cannot criticize any false claims because of his past scandal. And, to make the attack seem more credible, it is presented as “THE FACTS.”

CLINTON: "Their campaign pollster said, 'We're not going to let our campaign be dictated by fact checkers.' Now that is true. I couldn't have said it better myself — I just hope you remember that every time you see the ad."
THE FACTS: Clinton, who famously finger-wagged a denial on national television about his sexual relationship with intern Monica Lewinsky and was subsequently impeached in the House on a perjury charge, has had his own uncomfortable moments over telling the truth. "I did not have sexual relations with that woman, Miss Lewinsky," Clinton told television viewers. Later, after he was forced to testify to a grand jury, Clinton said his statements were "legally accurate" but also allowed that he "misled people, including even my wife."

I don't understand what one has to do with the other as it concerns a fact check? What a crap article.

    LOL, Nonsequitur much?

Clinton says: Romney campaign said F the facts, which is true
AP checks this by saying: Clinton BJ Lewinsky sex

The whole thing is loaded with garbage like this:

*Sure Obama reached out to Republicans, but Rahm Emanuel is Ari Gold's brother and says **** a lot!

*sure, health care costs have slowed, but it's because of the recession experts say! .... except that's not what they say.

*The economy in the 90's was great...but minor recession dotcom collapse in 2000!

This is the kind of garbage that you get when reporters try to be "balanced" and "bipartisan". Ryan gets up and flat out lies, Clinton doesn't, but we have to be "fair" & this trash is the result.

I think he speaks better than I remember.

One thing that is unbelievable about the guy is that he never stumbles. In the past I thought that his perfection in delivery could make him a bit boring. An occasional ah would actually make him more listenable.

When I really became convinced he was a towering genius in some ways was when he had his famous Monica deposition. He was flawless when tagged team hour after hour by several of the finest lawyers in the country. I am convinced that he has the ability to visualize his words as they come out of his mouth sort of like a person does if they look at teleprompter, but he was speaking without one.

The fact checks have become horrible. They used to point out flat out lies and then things that are half-truths like Clinton's talk about HCR having slowed the growth of health care costs.

Now it is complete editorial trash.

Bill murdered Ryan. Still, I think it's going to be very interesting television come debate time when Ryan goes up against volatile Biden in debates. Will Biden learn from last time?

As someone who watches this for entertainment, I can't wait.

    Chron missed one:

I thought Republicans were better job creators? Just not in the last half centruy, then?

I can see the inevitable counter-claim now: "Our policies helped Democrats during their terms!"
