Texx. Where would we be concerning food stamps had Mccain won in 2008?

They don't care about the truth. These guys are just trying to flame you and waste your time. It's a joy ride to them. They are the bottom of the barrel and have nothing intelligent or useful to offer.

    You're seething with anger.

You know that team Obama hasn't been able to improve the economy as he promised, and here we are with disgraceful levels of unemployment and record numbers of people on food stamps.

...and you choose to throw insults at the right leaning posters on the board.

I'll be the bigger man and not respond back with insults.

    I don't get you right-wingers.

First you think the government should stay out of the people's business. Then you rag on government for not doing enough.

You say the president has either done too much or not done enough depending on the talking memo of the day.

You shirk all responsibility of the previous administration while placing blame for histories woes on the current administration; ironically in shirking this responsibility you use children's playground name-calling such as "Oblamer" while deriding those who use the same to describe your childish behavior.

You claim you are doing excellent financially, yet complain about the state of the economy.

Frankly, it seems to me that you have absolutely nothing to b**** about but just want to b**** for the sake of b****ing.

I can't wait to see what four more years of hope and change is going to do to you. Full on meltdown I suppose.

I know I'll get flamed for this logic, but one of the reasons I believe food stamp usage has increased is because Americans are no longer as "proud" to be independent. It used to be a common thread for the lower class workers not to take hand outs unless they REALLY needed them. With all the bail outs and the entitlement mentality, I believe some of the more prideful people who wouldn't take handouts are going to the government first instead of family or cutting back on the things they really don't need....or just taking them if they qualify. Why should a family cut back when we are giving billions to banks and GM?

It's funny that you blame Republican policies for causing the crisis and you explicitly mention the role of credit default swaps, but you're giving a complete free pass to the president who signed the law deregulating OTC derivatives transactions (hint: it was the guy before W), which of course includes CDSs.

Told you guys! "Disgraceful levels of UE and record number..."

Absolutely no thought or analysis at all on BT's part- none. Those of us in the employment/careers field that study the UE, and its implications for our businesses, know the real deal based on our analysis.

BT is one of those we call a Partisan Artisan. He makes an art form out of bias and slant.

I don't think there are too many around here who would consider tex's amateurish attempts to emulate TJ as art.

Even down to the 1%er claim now. Next week I expect he will turn into an industrialist who spends time in Latin America.

Step back and think about it? Logic would tell you that in a recession, due to unemployment and other factors, food stamp usage would go up. More people need them. The rest is just a blame game I choose not to play.

Wow... what a load. Is that why the unemployment rate is up too? People used to not sign up for unemployment because they were just so much more independent but now they have an entitlement mentality.

You nailed it right there. It's sad that the lower income classes in America (Obama voters in particular) have this entitlement mindset. Gimme my freebies! While it gives them a short term sugar high, it cripples their ability to rise out of poverty by incenting bad behavior. You or I might find it embarrassing to accept government handouts, but far too many people shamelessly accept them. Unfortunately, this President is encouraging and promoting this type of behavior, and taking our finances to the brink and mortgaging our future by funding it.

Wait a minute - one of you is arguing that the government is doing too much and the other is arguing that the government isn't doing enough.

I think it is time that you both go and read your talking points and then come back when you have your story straight.

I've been on food stamps, it's depressing and terrible...but I was working less than 30 hours a week as a retail "assistant manager" and the girl I was living with deserved 3 square meals a day.

I just can't make my heart hard enough to be mad at people for wanting to have enough to eat.

You want to blame Obama tell the Republicans in congress to take a time out from introducing yet another repeal Obamacare/abortion/or gay marriage bill they know they don't have the votes for and work with the President and if it doesn't work by all means blame Obama. I am just sick of people selling the country down the river to manipulate elections.

    HO HO HO HO

You are just throwing out flat out lies man. You are trolling. Truth is that the food stamp roles are a reflection of the economy, nothing more. The unemployment rate would be at 6% if state and local gov'ts hadn't cut back so much. And the Private sector has added more jobs under Obama than it did under Bush in 8 years.

And yet you come back with these lies.

I am not insulting you, I am giving you the truth. You are not right leaning, you are right toppled over.

You aren't the bigger man (unless you count mass). You are just a liar.

Clinton did play a role for sure. But it was Bush who went well beyond with the deregulation by taking it to extremes. Bush also cut taxes and killed the surplus and thus created the deficit problem.

Point is, Bush had 8 years - you can't blame Clinton at that point. 4 years maybe but 8? Come on. Obama has gotten taken the economy from freefall to stablized it. 4 more years and he can get the patient out running again.
