Honestly, I have nothing to say about Liverpool as a city. I've never been there nor would I want to go there with the one exception of visiting Anfield to watch the mighty Reds play. I do have a few Liverpudlian (what an ugly name for a city's inhabitants) friends. They seem like nice lads, but what I do know is that people from big cities like London look down upon Liverpudlian intelligence. That's pretty much the only thing I know about Liverpool as a city.

I only follow their soccer team. Don't care so much about their people. However I do know that the Anfield atmosphere is right up there among the best and the fans are some serious loyal bunch. Unfortunately their LFC fan forum is worse than schitte. The GARM after a bad loss to the Bucks is 10x better than that forum after an epic win.

With that said, Liverpool is still one of the biggest clubs in Europe IMO. They've just hit rock bottom, but they're doing relatively well considering that they ALMOST went into administration after the previous American owners took their greed and schitte all over the club. FSG (the new owner group) is leading them towards the right direction and they've got a fantastic young manager to lead the way. It's a mistake to brush them off simply because of their table standings from the previous two years.

The future looks bright. Hop on the bandwagon now and experience a sleeping giant rise once more to prominence.

And again, not worth €50m. Hate how over-inflated these players are these days!

That being said, they also signed Axel Witsel from Belgium too. Combined cost is €80m for both players.

Wish Man United can spend that kind of money... Although I am not complaining about Fergie's "value in the market" concept. Hulk never mind Witsel isn't worth anything more than €25m. Money talks these days.

What do you lot think of Ronaldo's comment on his "unhappiness" with Real Madrid? If it doens't get resolved, I would love to see him back in Old Trafford. Wishful thinking I know...

Will have to wait for more comments from Ronaldo in the next weeks, always hard to judge these kind of comments, guys like Robben make them all the time.

On the other side, there have been rumours for years that Christiano wants to play in England again and I see Mourinho possibly teaming up with him, if one decides to leave.

I thought maybe Ronaldo was speaking of the anniversary of his father's passing. No?

    Maybe that's too simplistic.

€50m for Hulk? Wow, that's crazy. The guy is quite good but that's all he is, plus he's already 26 I believe. I would not have even paid half of that for him...

I could see a team like Chelsea paying 45+mil for Hulk. He has good dribbling skills and has an eye for goals. Plus partnering him up with a revamped Torres would make CBs across the EPL schett bricks.

I wonder why Chelsea didn't go after him. Was it because the original asking price was 100mil and Abramovic was like "lulz troll"?

Honestly, I didn't think Chelsea even needed him. They need some depth in midfield because Miereles left today and Essien is off to Madrid. Who else is going to cover Lampard, Obi Mikel, and Ramires?

Does anyone know if M'Vila transferred clubs this past window?

That's true, Chelsea needs to find a proper replacement for the aging Lampard. But I thought their mid was fine since they have Mata and the wonderkid Hazard, plus there's that kid Romeu who's still 20 and only getting better. Didn't know Meireles wanted out, though... but aside from him, I think stacking up on their forwards was important. Don't know how long Torres has until his next injury.

I thought for sure M'Vila was going to Arsenal. Haven't heard any transfer news regarding him. It's good though, this should give us more drama come January. I hate January transfer windows because of the high prices. I hope John Henry will spend for a true striker for Liverpool, not just hasbeens.

Oh Chelsea needed him. Chelsea need strikers. Almost as badly as Liverpool do.
It's basically a matter of which team's CF goes down injured first- Liverpool with Suarez or Chelsea with Torres. At least with Liverpool they're in the market for the out of contract Owen. With Chelsea, Sturridge is a decent striker but he can't do for them what Torres is required and needed to do as the lone striker.
Chelsea let Lukaku go on loan when they probably shouldn't have. I believe Lukaku requested to go on loan and some Chelsea supporters believe he'll get more opportunity to play at West Brom(which I believe would have been the case last season but not this season since the Baggies have augmented their rotation of strikers).
Hulk would have been a solid buy but I guess with Zenit stepping into the bidding, it went where Roman, Mike E(The tech.dir) and RDM didn't want to go.
I'm guessing Chelsea will just go with Torres and Sturridge until the winter window. Hopefully Torres doesn't get injured.

As Jontro noted, with Romeu biding his time, Essien became expendable. Mikel is fairly consistent and is Lampard-like in terms of playing matches. Romeu will just become cover for Mikel.

Mali is ranked ahead of the USA.

Mali. Didn't play a game last month. Meanwhile, the US beat Mexico in Mexico City.

Hulk is top 3 in the world at his position. Says who? Just the guy who introduced hazard to clutchfans when he was a fledgling upstart, struggling to get off the bench. Don't call me the messiah but tell me I ain't never been wrong!

Disappointed he didn't come to the premier league, but he will transfer eventually when Torres continues to flash in the pan.

Is it any less worthy than anything Mali has done in the last 3 months? My point wasn't to tout the win so much as to point out the absurdity that Mali is ranked ahead of the US based on...s***, I don't know what it's based on.
