The whole online price match thing is pretty cool. What's also nice is since they started doing that, I'm finding most of their prices are pretty close to what online sites (the big ones at least) charge anyways. Yes, I'm a big enough geek to windowshop electronics on the regular. Just got an Elph 520 camera for $219 as they matched Walmart.com's price ($10 lower than newegg). The thing that made me happy was when I picked up the micro-SD, the girl working there told me that she saw an online price of 12.99 instead of 14.99 marked and gave me the discount before I was able to find a lower prices on my phone :D.

Super good experience, first in a long while in Best Buy. Just wanted to share... cool story bro... yada yada yada.

    P.S.
Oh yeah, pretty happy with the Elph 520, nice little camera with decent zoom and low light shooting. If you're a camera noob like me, but want to take picture of some night scenes, pretty decent specs for a camera that's just a tad more expensive than the regular ones out there.

I haven't been in Best Buy in a long time, do they pricematch for places like amazon? or does it have to be from the website that accompanies a brick and mortar store?

They generally only price match for brick and mortar stores.

I never understood this. If they price matched walmart's price. Why not just get it at walmart in the first place?

Personal preference. Best Buy credit card. Best Buy customer service. Best Buy return policy. Best Buy more convenient. Reward Zone points. Plenty of reasons.

I think their founder is attempting to buy back the majority share and introduce big changes. I read about some of the proposed changes awhile back, wasn't a big fan of them personally but they sound like things the masses would like. The founder of Best Buy (I think it's the founder) seems pretty innovative.

I'm not sure how good all that stuff is for Best Buy... but you're comparing it to Walmart dude. There is no comparison. I'd rather dig through a dumpster than try to return something at Walmart. It feels about the same with all the crap of returned stuff they just stack in that area.

They did actually match Amazon when I bought a projector from them.

Researching a bit online, it seems that online matching is manager approval case by case. I suggest being nice, polite and smile :D

As far as Walmart, I found out long ago that the selection, and shockingly prices at Walmart is very pedestrian. Also everything's locked up so you can't touch and feel. They also have a 14 day return policy for a lot of tech items. I like to use my new gadget for a month, decide if I have buyer's remorse before I keep anything. Walmart service when I returned a TV after just 10 days last time was very meh.

In term of B&M tech window shopping, I now browse Frys (also match online), Bestbuy, Costco and Walmart in that order.

In terms of buying stuff with a peace of mind on returns it's Costco (90 days no questions) then Bestbuy (solid 30 days). Frys does 14 days and re-stocking fee sometimes and the Walmart (where they have to call "specialists" over to check if what I returned make sense.....).

The Best Buy I go to went through a makeover a year or 2 ago, and now it looks like Circuit City right before they went under. Whose idea was it to make stores look like warehouses? Their stock is actually quite bad, too.
